My favorite nook is our master bedroom, which should come as no surprise since I stay exhausted, for the most part, as a mommy of three kids, ages 5 and under. We moved into our current house a little over a year ago, with pretty much no bedroom furniture, except for our mattress. Always decorating on a budget, I pulled the room together with bargain finds.
The canopy bed was the one piece we purchased new; I had my heart set on this style for a while. I scored the tufted chair and faux bamboo nightstands on Craigslist, the rug at Garden Ridge and a large dresser at a scratch-and-dent Rooms To Go Outlet.
My bedding is a mix of different sources, with my favorite being the alternative down comforter from JCPenney; it's like sleeping under a cloud! I also love the look of monogrammed pillows.
With all of the black and white on the bed, I went for a punch of color with the peacock blue velvet drapes from IKEA. The artwork was another fun find. I purchased bird notecards from Etsy and framed them.
Although not completely finished, this space has become a relaxing retreat in my chaotic little world. Thanks to Stefanie for allowing me to be part of her "favorite nook" series!

I agree that this doesn't look like a "budget" room at all! It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove Love Love this room. Especially the use of the peacock blue curtains!!! I'm trying to buy them myself on IKEA's website. Are they the "Sanela" curtains in "blue." They don't quite look like exactly the same color as yours, so I was hoping you could remember if those where the same ones before I bought them. Thanks Bunches! Jessica C. rolsch.jess@gmail.com
