All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.
It inspired me to do another inspirational mini poster freebie (the first one here, inspired by my favorite movie). And while I know the second line has nothing to do with traveling per se, it certainly seems fitting for someone who loves to wander like me.
So from me to you, an inspirational mini poster. Hope it brightens your day. Just download and print.
Whether your wandering involves pajamas in your living room or steamer trunks to Antarctica, this one is for you.
PS: Don't worry, Im not going to turn into one of those blogs that gets all
theoretical on you about the meaning of life or posts pictures of kittens hanging onto tree limbs. I promise to keep my weepy whiny time to a minimum.

Hahaha, kittens on limbs. JUST HANG IN THERE.
ReplyDeleteMy girlfriends and I have what we call "Two Minute Whines" :) We'll say "Okay, I need two minutes to whine!" and off we go. After a few minutes one will remind us the time is up and point out a blessing that's recent or present. Works like a charm everytime. We all need to cleanse our soul, whether it's through tears or quiet conversation, but we are surrounded by His infinite blessings each day. We just need to be reminded it's okay to cry, because laughter always follows. "Even this shall pass away"
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, this isn't working. It just leads to an image of an icon with a paintbrush, even when I Save Link As...
ReplyDeleteI can't get it to download either. Thanks for putting it up, I have loved this quote for ages and will love having it hang in my house!
ReplyDeleteGillian and Anna: Thanks for the heads up on the link - should work now.
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeletePerfection.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Love Actually freebie - how did I miss that? LOVE. THAT. MOVIE. To the point of annoyance. Every holiday season, Scott knows what I'll be popping in the DVD player...
I cry every single time.
Nice verse, and I love your poster. My son, (age 2) has been going through a little fussy streak, so now we take turns "fussing". Would you like a turn?
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better soon!
Success! Thanks for the awesome freebie!
ReplyDelete{{{hugs}}} awesome freebie!!
ReplyDelete:::NERD ALERT:::
ReplyDeleteActually the poem is in Lord of the Rings. It's a reference to the character Aragorn, who is the descendants of kings, but he is living in exile. More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_that_is_gold_does_not_glitter
But it is a really pretty poem!
I LOVE THIS!!! Janell
ReplyDeletethank you so much, love it!!!
ReplyDeleteI love Amy's nerd alert! =) And I love this poster! Thanks so much for sharing this, I'll be linking.
ReplyDeleteWow, I've been wearing that quote on a bracelet on my arm for the past 5 years and never knew where it was from, thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteYou are aloud to have your moments, we all do. Don't feel like you can't post something that sounds like a downer. We are here to support you and I hope you feel better soon. I love the download:)
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs some weepy whiny time occasionally. Lovely poem - thanks for another great freebie!
ReplyDeleteNo need to apologize!! I do hope things calm down soon. And awesome freebie - love it!
ReplyDeleteAdorable. Great freebie! Hope you are doing well. Everything will be better soon.
ReplyDeleteWe all have our moments and this too shall pass.
ReplyDeleteTake care, it will get better.
caption for the kitten image "HANG IN THERE"
ReplyDeleteFeel better.
ReplyDeleteHope everything gets calmer soon! I love your blog, have recently become a daily reader. Take care!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful quote! I don't think I've ever heard that one before. And I love the mini-poster. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Just wanted to let you know I quoted you on my blog today. Something you said in a recent interview really resonated with me!
I LOVE it that Melanie above wrote, You are "aloud" to have your moments. I think she meant "allowed" but the thought of "aloud" is so much better in this context. Get it out. Say it aloud. Makes you feel better.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the freebie.
Just thought I would say "hello"! I'm back from my blog-cation and hope your doing well!
ReplyDeleteXOXO,
S
Very impressive!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your presentation and I appreciate that!
Keep up your good work. I will come here regularly for news.

I like a reflective post every once and a while! Especially when it's from the heart. Thanks for the freebee!! I think it fits me too!
ReplyDeleteLove this quote. It's just a good reminder of the good and lovely.
ReplyDeleteI recently bought this necklace as a reminder:

Hope things get better! This looks awesome, but when I try to download it, it's a pink one with no trunks, just a blank space where the O should be.
ReplyDeleteKalee: It appears to be working for me. Can you email me whatever you are seeing?
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely poster. It will go up on my mood board along with your first one!
ReplyDeleteHiya! I love the poster and I tried downloading it, but the "a" in wander was missing and the colors were pink and gray. I was wondering if there was another way to get the pdf file?
ReplyDeleteI, like the wonder that I am, stumbled across your blog today. This line really resonated with me too. Thank you for the beautiful art and a purpose to my wondering : )
