I know its now Nov 2 and just about everyone is sick of Halloween posts but I promise, this is the last one for the next 11 months. Without further yammering, the Halloween party that was.
As in years past, we had a ton of trick or treaters. We gave out 1000 pieces of candy! This year was even crazier with the addition of a cotton candy machine. Somehow I thought that most parents wouldn't let their kids have any b/c it wasn't prepackaged - so I figured it would be mostly for the party guests and the people on the block that know us. WRONG! At one point we had a huge line with kids and parents all waiting for a little sweet fluff. Crazy. Thankfully we had the bearded lady and the strong man to help the production line and a few other guests doing crowd control.
So there you have it. Next year Halloween is on a Monday so I'm not sure if it makes sense to do a party or not. Still on the fence about it but we have plenty of time to figure it out. Until next year...
The appetizer skull is so disgusting...(and I say that only in the best of ways!) The house looks just fabulous decorated for Halloween, look forward to seeing what you do next year! Janell
ReplyDeleteLove all those goodies!!!.. Appetizer skull is definitely more than disgusting. Your halloween totally rocks.
ReplyDeleteAMAZING, as usual! Did you make the cherry mice? And where did you get the little bottles that say "Drink me"? I love that idea! Looks like a fun Halloween!
ReplyDeleteomg appetizer skull = super creepy (in a good way ;)). Those mice are soo cute, and COTTON CANDY?!!!! Amazing.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Everything looks so incredibly. I'm always amazed by your attention to detail! Looks like it must've been a fabulous party!
ReplyDeleteSo amazing. Love the cotton candy idea. I served vampire cupcakes (have pics today on the blog) and several people commented to me that they didn't think parents would let their kids have them, but we ran out pretty quickly! I would love to be a kid (or an adult for that matter) visiting your house at Halloween! Here's to next year!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like the best Halloween party EVER! How fun! That skull was so gross (gross = awesome for Halloween) :)
ReplyDeleteholy crap. you never cease to amaze. the "sickening spread" looks terribly good!!!
ReplyDeleteYour party looks fabulous! I can't believe that you handed out 1000 pieces of candy, I am super jealous! We did not even get one trick or treater. Sad.
ReplyDeleteI'm astounded by your level of creativity!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like your party was the hit of the year! Always enjoy your creativity in everything you do.
ReplyDeleteJust saw a commerical with you and Mr. L for tomorrow's Nate show. I already have it DVR'd.
LOVE it all, but where can I steal...er find your recipes???
ReplyDeleteI too am astounded. Very nice work Mrs. Limestone Halloween Master.
ReplyDeleteYou are so inspiring! I don't know where you get all the energy to put such a great Halloween party together.
ReplyDeleteOk and I thought our brain mold at our party was good but you are the Queen of Halloween my friend. Wow, I am in heaven looking at all your creepy ideas. I think I will be copying if you don't mind! You rock!
ReplyDeleteMegan
WOW!! You pulled it off again, it looks amazing!! The cotton candy machine is a great idea, I'm surprised you had so many people waiting! I have so many questions, maybe we need one more post....
ReplyDeleteI demand you rescind the "last Halloween post" sentiment! I MUST know more about that menu! Specifically, the skull and those mice! Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing!!! How can you not make this your day BTW, what's the green stuff in the vials? I'm intrigued.
ReplyDeleteI am blown away by the level of effort you put into this! Amazing details and the ideas are so clever. If I went to a party like that, I'd be grinning ear to ear all night. I'm especially taken with the meaty skull.
ReplyDeleteWow that is amazing! I love it all - the decor, the food, the drinks, and most def. the cotton candy machine. What fun. You are for sure the fav house on that block.
ReplyDeletemrs limestone, you are truly amazing!
ReplyDeletewe decorated every room in our house and had a candy bar but the proscuitto head? LOVE it!!!!!!! I gotta do that next year!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou know, if you ever get tired of your day job (and the graphic design) you should think about party planning. It is obvious that you have a strong grasp on the details that go into successful party planning combined with the creativity that makes a party unique and fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! Its actually quite a small party (about 20 people total) so its a little easier to put time and effort into these little details. Although I still run around like crazy prepping the day before.
ReplyDeletePhillyLass: The stuff in the little bottles is a lemon drop shot with a little blue food coloring thrown in to make it green.
1FunkyWoman: I tried to make a brain mold jello but I couldnt get the jello out of the mold! Whats the trick?
Beth: What recipe do you want? (I warn you, there is nothing too complicated here)
Natalie: I got those little bottles online (was ordered for another project and I had these left over). I made the little "drink me" labels.
Wow, looks like your house is the place to hit on Halloween. Might need to change next years plans. Everything looked great!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks amazing! You really are the queen of Halloween!
ReplyDeleteWe did the circus theme, too! At our church party, my husband did balloon animals and I told fortunes with my glowing crystal ball. I get what you mean about the cotton candy, because we (particularly he) had a huge crowd all night!
Oh my goodness, I ADORE it! More inspiration! I need to move close to you just to come to your parties!

My favorite appetizer is the chocolate mice...oddly cute! The skull made of meat, cheese, and olives is so creatively creepy it is impressive!
ReplyDeleteA cotton candy machine?!? I think I might love you!
ReplyDeleteYour attention to detail never fails to amaze me! I want to be your real-life friend so I can be invited to these parties. ;-) That skull is disgusting! Well, delicious I'm sure, but man is it awful to look at!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I have been waiting for these pics, knowing they would be fab. Girl, if I had a quarter of the molding and woodwork you do, I would be a very happy woman. ;) That chandelier about knocked me off my chair. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteyou are a creative genius! I love the cherry mice and the meathead!
ReplyDeleteomg this is wonderful! my favorite of all is the skull. you outdid yourselves!
ReplyDeleteOMG I am DYING over that grey matter platter! And the antipasta skull is just genious!
ReplyDeleteIf you DO decide to do it, I'm on a plane and will be out in front no matter what! : )
ReplyDeleteNice work, love the mice tails and their faces! So creative. Best of all, I love that you are creating positive "remember when" memories for kids that grow up in your neighborhood. We always think "back when" was a better time, but you are proving that statement wrong! -Lindsay H
ReplyDeleteThere can never be enough Halloween posts!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! The food all looks awesome. Kids must love coming to your house for Halloween - the cotton candy idea rocks!
ReplyDeleteDitto, ditto, ditto. I loved it all -- like everyone else, I can't wait to see what you create next year. The skull was the absolute best -- totally grossed me out. I love the way you hung the decorations throughout the house. What do you use so as not to create holes or marks in the walls?
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is.....you are amazing....xv
ReplyDeleteYour party looks fantastic. I'm so glad you posted the photos even though everyone is over Halloween. I loved the skull meathead....how ingenious. You'll have to tell how you did it, next year. I adore Halloween but on November 1, I'm sick of it. I do so much that I burn myself out. But come July....I start to think about it and want to do it all again.
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed seeing all of yours.
WOW where did u find the recipes for all this awesomeness???
ReplyDeleteEverything looks SO professional...and i love the black cheesecloth!!
Amazing as I knew it would be! You guys ROCK! Yea for your tv appearance tomorrow! Hope they put the segment online soon after so I can view it! Hugs from Conroe, Texas!
ReplyDeleteI must say I'm really impressed that you guys go all out! I'm loving all the spooky food and don't even get me started on the cotton candy. Love it! I hope that when I buy my own house I can throw a Halloween party as nice as yours!
ReplyDeleteLove the cotton candy idea! I'd like to know what was in those little cups with the red on top....

ReplyDeleteSimply amazing! Your attention to detail is spot on! I look forward to your Halloween posts every year and you definitely do not disappoint!!
ReplyDeleteYou are our halloween inspirtation for our creepy doctors lab haunted house we plan to do next year.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a favorite online resource for decorations or recipes?
Thanks so much!
Your parties are always amazing! You should do a book! Both a party and renovation book!
ReplyDeleteThis years Halloween party looks like it was the most fun of the last three. I think this year you out did yourself on the interior et al. If you don't mind me asking of the last three Halloweens, which was your favorite? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteAnon - My favorite parties were probably the ones that we had in our last house. The kind where everyone gets drunk and stays til all hours. These days almost everyone we know has kids so its quite a different thing. Fun in a different way but hard to live up to when we were young.
ReplyDeleteEverything is awesome........love the mice, I made them for my daughter's b'day party one year...she had a pet hamster (J.P.) all her little friends thought I was so creative...lol
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed Nate yesterday !!! Hope you can somehow post it...
Thanks for sharing Stephanie...
All the best,
Kathy :)
I love how much thought and effort you put into your Halloween party every year! The decor and food looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteHi there, I have been following your blog for a while now and LOOOOOOOOOOOVE it.
ReplyDeleteYou are a GENIUS..LOL!! Pleeeease you have to do a post on how all the food is prepared???
OMG, you are just so awesome. Do you do the signs yourself or can you get them online somewhere (grey matter platter signs etc?)
Thanks SO much for sharing, it is really appreciated.
Abi
I'd never thought that I'd say this but Mr. L looks really really good with a mustache!!!!
ReplyDeleteEverything turned out awesome as expected.
Doris
I love your brain! I can't believe you come up with all this stuff. One after the other the pics were amazing! You inspire me to be a better hostess, and to move to New York!
ReplyDeleteYou are my kind of gal! Gorgeous party. I must know where you found the potion bottle glass jars...I have to get those for my party this year. I bow to you oh goddess of Halloween. :)
ReplyDeleteMindy
Hi, I found you after reading the 2011 Woman's Day Halloween Celebrations magazine article about this 2010 party of yours (can't believe nobody beat me here to mention the article! Congrats!) Just wanted to say a warm *Thank You* for providing new ideas and stimulating my own creative juices. I poked around here and agree with everyone: endless creativity, beautiful house and great photography. If you're feeling up to questions, where did you get the labels with the skulls that you added text to? And can you tell me about the black TRICK OR TREAT banner? The vintage Victorian feel here is great, and your sideshow costumes just put it all over the top!
ReplyDeleteYou are so fun! Do you have a tutorial for your meat and cheese skull? I will have to keep watching your blog, so inspiring:) goodfellow.stephanie@gmail.com
