Inspired by a twiggy hanging contraption we spotted in a coffee shop, I wanted to add a little bit of woodland wonderland to the dining room for Christmas. A very sweet friend dragged a bunch of branches from their home in NJ to my doorstep for this very project.
I started off making a big rectangle and strung that to the center of the chandlier using fishing line.
Then I filled out with extra branches, using some battery operated lights and hung some glittered snowflakes over the table.
Now I just have to finish decorating and get cooking. How is everyone doing on their holiday prep?
That's very clever! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic! Wishing I was a bit more prepared for things, but I know it always gets done.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous in every way!!!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas

Gorgeous. I love it.
ReplyDeleteI use branches from the outdoors all the time (Im from Jersey...lol) This I havent done yet, but I love the way it turned out. Holidays are in full swing along with birthdays here. I wish you and yours a Happy Holiday season!
ReplyDeletePlease change your blog settings back so we can see your whole posts in Google Reader!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog, and want to see the pictures.
NICE!
ReplyDeleteLove it, and the addition of the snowflakes finishes it off perfectly!
ReplyDeleteVery chic!
ReplyDeleteI love the twist on the old hang ornaments from your lights!! It is amazing what you can do with the materials you have around you.
ReplyDeleteI haven't even started making a Christmas menu, yikes!
My holiday prep is done! Then again, I'm not having any guests over, so I'm just decorating for myself. But that's half the fun anyway, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI looooooooooove this look! I'm a branch lover, they always always look fab! I did this last year in my dining room with some HUGE manzanita branches and I loved it so much it didn't come down until February. Such a festive and fun display, so so so pretty!

I'm digging the whimsical woodland/wonderland feel of the twigs. Niiiice!
ReplyDeleteUgh, I'm so very behind this year w/ the basement goings-ons. We finally finished buying gifts & last night we slapped up som twinkle lights & those very same glitter snowflakes (silver) & called it a day.
uhh! You do it every time! Can I please come live in your house? hahaha So fabulous! So creative!
ReplyDeleteI have a drum shade over our table so it makes it impossible to do something so clever.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!
I'm impressed with your ability to make sticks in a chandelier look awesome. They would look like sticks shoved in a chandelier if I tried this. Nice work!!
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing! I love it. What a great use of the sticks. I always decorate my chandelier but never thought of this. I thank goodness finally put up a tree and decorations and am now on to wrapping presents.
ReplyDeleteStunning as usual!
ReplyDeleteThat is the coolest!
ReplyDeleteI'm no longer getting images in my reader. what's up?
ReplyDeleteSOOOO cool- very Anthro-installation-art-like! My decorations are (unfortunatly) not nearly that exciting;)
ReplyDeleteYou could just leave this up and hang season-appropriate stuff from it. (New year stuff, valentines, easter eggs, etc.)
ReplyDeleteHa! I made a brancholier out of an old dead key lime tree...for the season...years ago. It is STILL up! It does get seasonally decorated from time to time!
ReplyDeleteYours looks fab!
I see a lot of people hanging things off their chandeliers but I am nervous about adding a lot of weight to mine. Does any one else fear that?
ReplyDeleteYour house looks lovely and I am so impressed every year with your cards. I hope your family and friends appreciate all your effort! MB
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great friend to help out with the branches! I love the look!
ReplyDeleteLovely! I saw something similar in Burdick's chocolates in Harvard Square. I thought I might give a go this year but I was too intimidated by it. I was trying to hide a ceiling fan I am not thrilled with. Next year I hope to have a chandelier in its place.
ReplyDeleteYours is nicely done!
you blow me away!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat looks amazing! You are so talented.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone see Nate yesterday? He took small branches and dipped them in plaster. I'm wondering if it is as easy as he made it look.
WOW, you rock! This looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulously festive! You may have a hard time taking it down after the holidays! Janell
ReplyDeleteWOW...so cool. You always make your home looks so amazing during the Holiday...wish I knew you when i lived in NYC... :)))

Your home looks absolutely beautiful! I'm looking around for inspirations and ran into your blog a few months ago and I must say I'm a real fan. We just purchased a two bedroom in Prospect Heights and although it's not a brownstone (I wish...) we want to make it very nice and bring back some of it's charm. Can't wait to see all the future posts.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Congrats on your new home.
