I had an idea of using these profile silhouettes I had made a while back in a different way. I wasn't using them in the bedroom anymore but I had saved them for a rainy day.
I taped my giant noggin to the back side of the window and got my chalk marker. Using a bunch of quotes attributed to Albert Einstein (see, that's where the genius comes in!), I scribbled my favorites around and around until I was out of room. Remove the template and voila, a little bit of temporary art slightly obscure a bad view and inspire genius at the same time!
I think it is a fun addition to the room although I think it could be bigger and would look better with Albert Einstein's head shape rather than my own. Hopefully it will have the intended inspirational effect.
Its been a few years since I did much of any changes in the office. I think its time to mix it up a tiny bit in here but I have to get time to tackle that project.
What do you think? Would ol' Al be pleased?
For the curious, here are some of the quotes I used:
-A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.
-Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.
-Sometimes one pays most for the things one gets for nothing.
-The important thing is not to stop questioning.
-The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious.
-Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts.
-Imagination is more important than knowledge.
-Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.
-My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble minds.
Al would totally be proud! I'm normally not a huge silhouette fan but I love this!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this. I'm a tiny bit obsessed with silhouettes, and I love that you filled it with quotes. Looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE
ReplyDeleteSo cool and original! I've always wondered if there was a chalk marker, was it hard to find? I so need one

This is so pretty - I love it! I think Jane Austen quotes would be really fun too.
ReplyDeleteLove this idea. And those quotes too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI think Al would be totally pleased! Personally I think your idea is pure genius! Goodness, girl, that technique could be used so many ways ... might even give a try on a scrapbook layout! Made my way here via Pinterest ... looks like you're having fun here. Think I'll snoop around a bit! Thanks for the hospitality ... and the fabulous idea!
ReplyDeleteLove that!! I am a major sucker for inspirational quotes and I personally think your head is much prettier than Albert's. What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI only found it because I like to write on my dining room mirror but pretty easy to order online. Just search for bistro marker.
ReplyDeleteI think this is incredible - talk about " brainstorming " lol
ReplyDeleteFantastic job - I am a huge fan - and also live in an old Victorian!
That is a fantastic idea!! I love anything to do with silhouettes and adding the quotes makes it ever better!
ReplyDeleteI love the tribute to Einstein! How do you use the chalk markers? I haven't heard of them. Does it come off of glass easily? I would love to use these on my screen doors!
ReplyDeleteYes, comes off very easily. They are used in restaurants for menu boards.
ReplyDeleteGENIUS!!!
ReplyDeleteAl does make for some rather awesome quotes.
ReplyDeleteThis is really cool! I've never seen anything quite like it.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. I'm going to share this on our blog with the idea of a Jane Austen twist. Her silhouette and quotes from her books/letters.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea - really brilliant (especially with Einstein involved!). I can see myself doing some Shakespeare quotes...but I love Al also!!
ReplyDeleteI am off to peruse your blog some more! I've visited several times - but was reminded to come again just recently. Glad I did!
Linda
This was totally new for me! Must but that too.
ReplyDeleteLove this! What a unique way to tackle the less than ideal window view! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteUm... chalk marker?! Where have I been hiding? I think I just found a new toy to play with! Great project by the way! I'm definitely going to try that one out.
ReplyDeleteAl would love, as do I!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to do this in my kids rooms. GREAT idea.
ReplyDeleteI love this!! And I love quotes too, so this is perfect! I might try something similar on my chalkboard!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a wonderful double duty display! I liked it so much that I added it to a slideshow I curated over at Kirtsy.com! Enjoy & be well!
