Now that the practical bits of the shore kitchen have been completed (or at least decided), its time to move on to the much more fun part: decor!
paradise beach club or sunbathers
There is a spot right when you walk in (first photo in this post) where we took out part of the wall that definitely needs a bit of art. My original idea was to use this bright beach print but I recently found this black and white sunbathing photo that I just might prefer ever so slightly. Decisions, decisions!
Have you seen anything else that might work even better? As you can see in the photos here, the spot needs a portrait orientation but other than that, I'm pretty open to suggestion. Id love to find something longer/skinner to better fill the space.
I always love the look of black and white!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought would be to stay with black and white but it's a beach house so I think a color would do it some good. Love all things Max Wagner. http://www.maxwangerprintshop.com/products
ReplyDeleteLove the woman swimming image. The proportions don't work but maybe I can find something similar. Thanks Jenny.
DeleteI love this one, although I have no idea of its dimensions: http://www.behance.net/gallery/Touch/7797799
ReplyDeleteNo matter what you choose it will be lovely, I'm sure. :)
How sweet.
DeleteOh, go for the color!! I love it.
ReplyDeleteI like the color too, especially given the beach setting
ReplyDeleteLove the color! It really pops. It would be perfect!
ReplyDeleteLove the colour one too, as Viv said, cos of beach setting. It's beautiful vintage.
ReplyDeleteI think the color is perfect! But whatever you choose, I know it will be fab.
ReplyDeleteLove the color, for me that one pulls me in more than the monochromatic.
ReplyDeleteThat's tough. They are both really cute. I'm inclined to go for the color. I'd still find a place for the black and white one too though. Because I'm greedy.
ReplyDeleteI'm leaning toward bright & colorful.
ReplyDeleteI vote for color. It's a beach house, so have some fun!
ReplyDeleteB&W for sure!
ReplyDeleteI like the bright on this one - makes the space look more unique!
ReplyDeleteI like the color but try to use the other one too somewhere because it's so great. I think the mix of color and b&w would look cool.
ReplyDeleteLove the color photo best! I'm usually drawn to those particular colors though! I think either one that you choose will look great!
ReplyDeleteI love the color. It will really make a statement in there:) Plus beach houses should have some fun!
ReplyDeleteI vote for fun and colorful!
ReplyDeleteErin @ The Great Indoors
I agree with Andrea, the colour one for sure.
ReplyDeleteColorful! I loooooove it!!
ReplyDeleteParadise Beach Club all the way! Especially as If I was off to visit my shore home I'd want to be able to say "Off the the Paradise Beach Club"!! Perhaps use the other one in the dining area?
ReplyDeleteWhy not some black and white shots on the beach of that adorable baby blown up? Catch her when she is not aware of the camera so it doesn't look like a portrait.
ReplyDeleteYou are such a good photographer, why not have one of your black and white photos blown up for that spot!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda. Very sweet of you to say. I already have a whole wall of my photos in the next room (see here: http://www.brooklynlimestone.com/2011/03/shore-files-gallery-wall-unveiled.html) so I think it might be too much to wallpaper the whole house with my own images.
DeleteColor, color, color...Have FUN!!
ReplyDeleteIts funny to me everyone is saying the colorful one is more fun b/c I think the black + white one is a lot more "fun" in an unexpected sense. But of course I love the colors in the poster. Too bad I cant find something that mixes the two.
DeleteDid you see the HGTV Smart home? The black and white pic reminds me of the hallway entry, very cool!
ReplyDeleteNo I haven't seen it but I'll have to go find a repeat now. Thanks.
DeleteAlthough I like both of those pictures, I have always preferred paintings over prints or posters. I love what you did to your dresser with the octopus. What about a really neat abstract painting featuring a marine animal? You're so talented I'm sure you could make something beautiful. I think it would be pretty in a simple frame, but I also like the idea of modern art in an ornate antique frame. Whatever you choose it will be gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks Natalie. Yes, Im totally with you on prefering paintings to prints - I'm just not that strong with painting. I like what I did for my bedroom but I'm not sure I could do something more colorful that I wouldn't see the flaws in. Maybe one day I'll swap a print for a proper painting but I need to find just the thing first.
DeleteI love the color. How about this artist? She such cool swimming photos!

Those are just stunning! Thanks for sharing. I can't seem to find any in a portrait orientation but they would be just the thing.
