Back to the shore. If you will recall I was debating whether I should keep the living room beige or go grey. Then we needed to repaint anyway due to our (relatively minor) Sandy related water damage repairs so it was decided.
new color: Glidden Granite Grey
Obviously not earth shattering by any means but I have to say I'm digging it.
It still feels airy and I think it will work great with the white furniture we already have. I can't wait until I can take all of the furniture that is piled up in the middle of the room under a tarp back out and play! In not so happy news, repainting meant the gallery wall that took me a weekend to get just right had to come down.
In other words, this went bye-bye.
original color: Behr Parisian Taupe
Not sure if I'll ever have the uninterrupted time to hang it before Agatha turns 5 but I did like how it drew the eye toward this end of the room in a good way (as opposed to screaming BIG BLACK HOLE TV IS ALL I SEE!). So the question is: what do replace it with? Do I rehang the original symetrical gallery wall or go in another direction? Suggestions? I'm a little stumped.
I love the symmetrical gallery wall around the tv. I'd put it back up!
ReplyDeleteI really did like how it looked but I'm the absolute worst person about doing boring work twice. I'm cool the first time but the second time always seems so much worse :)
DeleteThat's what husbands are for!
DeleteI think you should put it back up...it will POP that much more off the darker colored wall...

A third vote for putting it back up! That's a gorgeous gallery wall and it really does minimize the look of the tv.

Oh I hate to say it but that gallery will look amazing against the gray!
ReplyDeleteWhat about different sized frames and paintings in your colour scheme or maybe some other colors? Or a mirror? Or a shelf on each side to add some plants maybe?
ReplyDeletePut it back up!!! I think that gallery wall would look amazing against the grey. I really love the grey color you picked- it looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteNeutrals are just the best. Sorry world. I was super boring with my paint colors too - white, grey, dark grey, and for my fun color - a light mint. Which is still probably boring to some people.
ReplyDeleteThat black and white gallery was MADE to hang on a gray wall. Lovin' the new paint color.
ReplyDeleteHaha love that post title. And yes, you need to put the gallery back up. But maybe to inject a little color you could swap out just one of the black and whites for one of your photos from India or Morocco? Just an idea - could really pop in the room or might look totally out of place...
ReplyDeleteA - your title is brilliant. I died. Hysterical. B - rehang the gallery wall. It was a fabulous way to create a focal point on a wall with a TV. I loved it. There was something really calming about the symmetry. I don't think I could say the same if it was an asymmetrical gallery wall.
ReplyDeleteGotta agree...gallery wall. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteLove that new color. I am still into gray :)
ReplyDeleteAhhh I love the post title! I just painted my bedroom gray, haha. It may be the color of the moment, but it sure makes me happy :)
ReplyDeleteIf those pics are things you love to look at, I'd put them all back up. If they are just "things", keep the set-up and change a couple of the pics for favourite Aggie pics? Whatever, the grey is lovely! It's all over my house in large and small doses. I really like that wall with pictures, and I think you would miss them a lot if they go......
ReplyDeleteThe gallery wall is fab. I wonder if you had a larger/wider console under the tv if you might like how that creates a nice focal for you. Pair of lamps, sconces, etc. I see you have a small table at the end of the sofa, could it be moved?
ReplyDeleteAgreed - ideally I'd like something larger under the tv but haven't gotten around to it.
DeleteOh , that's a very nice grey !!!! that might be nice for my living room , or maybe zinc, these decisions are so hard. That pad of yours is sure looking great.
ReplyDeleteThis color is definitely not as deep as the zinc shade. If i had your woodworking skills, Id go with the zinc :)
DeleteI love the gallery wall, if you guys do too I would put it back up. If you didn't spackle over your nail holes you may be able to find them quickly and have some of your work already done!
ReplyDeleteI have to say I also LOVE that gallery wall. I'm sure it was a pain to hang but it sure does look lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love the wall!!!! Rehang!!! Also, agree with a little color splash in a few of the photos. Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the original idea.

Maybe heavier black frames or mattes would balance out the "black hole"
