Years ago, I picked up some old windows at a yard sale for a few bucks but never got around to using them. Inspiration struck this weekend just in time for Valentines Day.
What can I say? I'm a sucker for a double meaning.
To make your own, you will need:
-a window
-a tiny bit of paint + brush (you could also do this with a chalk ink marker, a window marker or even a sharpie!)
-a print out of any type or line drawing to trace
- tape
Simply tape the print out to the back of the window, paint over the lines and allow to dry. Voila! Nearly instant, custom artwork that is sure to add a fun touch to the right space.
Even thought this is technically a Valentine's Day post, the same technique could be used to make a great newlywed gift using the family name, a fun faux vintage foodstuffs sign for a kitchen or a great party prop. In other words, this wont be the last time you see it here.
This project is SUPER quick. The hardest part is deciding what to say! Even if you don't have an old window in your basement you could do the same thing on any window in your house and wash it away when you tire of it. In that case, I'd suggest using a chalk marker rather than paint.
Very cool. I have a window on my mantle that needs this! Thanks for the idea :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this! Such a clever idea - very cool, looks so professional and yet so simple to carry out. Would also be cool to do with names of a couple for a wedding or engagement present.
ReplyDeleteLove this! I used this same technique to make this amazing french market style window but it broke when we moved-- I'm so glad you reminded me to make another! Love this!
ReplyDeleteCan you tell me the font name please?
ReplyDelete"LOVE" font is Circus. http://www.dafont.com/circus.font
Delete"Inquire Within" font is Chameleon Sketch: http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/fontforecast/chameleon/
Hope that helps!
Thanks so much:)
