Well I just watched the episode where Frederik comes over to my side of the river and sells the former pinkstone for a whopping 4.45M. Whoa.
I admit, I'm one of those people that was sad to see the pink gone. It had been there for as long as I remember and it felt like a little secret surprise had been removed from the nabe. I can't blame a buyer for bringing it back to brown but that doesn't mean we can't miss it, right?
So what do you think of the renovation? Obviously its a gorgeous house and I usually drool at these types of projects but there is something lacking with this one for me. It feels disjointed somehow. Especially when you think of the amazing Jenna Lyons townhouse that sold for considerably less in 2012 (and has since been updated - check out the before/afters here). Although in fairness, this one isn't decorated and we all know how much of a difference that can make.
What do you think?
I would say disjointed is the perfect description. I don't look at it and think YES, I think, hmm maybe that should have been X. But whoa on the price.

ReplyDeleteIt would be hard to live in the pink house, but fun to see it as part of the neighborhood. I agree about the renovation. They modern and traditional elements are not very harmonious in this remodel.

ReplyDeleteI'm trying to think why it would be hard to live in the pink house. My neighbor was putting new siding on her house and I begged her to make it yellow. She asked why I didn't do mine yellow and I told her that I couldn't see mine but would love to look out at a yellow house. I'd miss the pink as well but I wouldn't pay $1million to live in it. I agree with 'disjointed', Stephanie.

ReplyDeleteThe flow of the space does seem weird with the fireplace in the kitchen. Your layout seems much nicer, plus the floor in the pink house doesn't have your amazing marquetry. I'm one of those people who would cringe to paint over natural wood, but I think I would paint all of the wood white except the wood on the window walls because those tall wooden pieces like the fireplace mantle and the doors seem out of balance to my eye. The bath is very nice though!
