Late to the party.
Obviously I've been living under a rock but I just discovered Google reader. Hello? This tool is pretty awesome considering the number of blogs I like to keep up with on a regular basis. The only thing I don't like is that there doesn't seem to be a way to read or post comments unless I click directly to the blog but that's okay. Its a lot easier than looking for new posts.
Anyone know how I can title my posts correctly? I generally just put a few words at the top but evidently that doesn't count. I don't see a title option in the posting dialog so I'm not sure how I can tell blogger the title of this post is "Late to the party".
Another interesting thing I learned is that I have 53 subscribers to my own blog. Hmm...I certainly don't have 53 people commenting. Who are you mystery 53? If you're out there, I'd love to hear what you're thinking.
And just a general thank you for those who do comment regularly. I really do love to hear what everyone has to say. Thanks for following along with my ramblings and misspellings :)
Google Reader is wonderful! I'm one of your mystery 53. I don't remember how I stumbled upon your blog, but it has been fun watching the transformation and decisions put into your gorgeous home! Thanks for sharing it all.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI am another of your mystery 53 and am always excited to see what you have done with your home each time you post. Your house is beautiful! Thanks for sharing your adventure!
I am not one of your mystery 53...but you blog is tied for being my first favorite blog with this: http://thesnailandthecyclops.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI'm one of your mystery 53 too! I recently found your blog from another blog I'm a mystery reader of, and I'm so impressed with the work you've done on your home. It's truly stunning now! Keep at it - I enjoy the decorating stuff too.
ReplyDeleteComing out of lurkdom to let you know I love your blog and your ideas. Your color choices are great.
ReplyDeleteYou could really make a career out of renovating !!
Keep on bloggin".
Thanks for sharing your journey
Sue
Wow! I didn't know about this, either. Potentially life-changing, thank you!!
ReplyDeleteWoah, I have 188 subscribers! Weird. Creepy?
ReplyDeleteAdd me to the anon list--we just bought a house in South Park Slope, and went through a ton of reno.
ReplyDeleteAnd, coincidentally, PVE is a good friend of one of my close friends, so that was a crazy bit of kismet.
Thanks so much! Im excited to see new and old posters alike.
ReplyDeletekyle - are you a man or a woman? I always assumed you were my lone male reader but now that Im reading your other favorite blog, I think Im wrong.
I use bloglines myself. Count me in as frequent lurker! I really like your sense of style. Esp. your kitchen!
ReplyDeleteI am a transgender individual..not really...I am male. I read the snail and the cyclops for the nostalgic appeal/literary style...not because I wear women's clothing (I don't). Did you like the blog? Because it's about as different from yours as they come. It has the best pictures on the May 6th post.
ReplyDeletehi!
ReplyDeletei've renovated two homes: in providence (bungalow), kansas city (loft) and now baltimore (old barbershop). I love your ideas and was recommended your blog by a friend. I read through google reader as well. I admire the frequency of your posts, and your earnest reporting of home improvement, especially in this market!
Oh dude, apparently I wasn't fully in this century either, but thanks for the new obsession--Google Reader!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your advice about the fridge , they offered me a measly $100 off than max $200 , but I did find it at Home Depot they gave it to me for less, its new and will be delivered in 4 days, bastards ,hah ,
ReplyDeleteif I had no children I wouldn't mind water in the door , but I have little kids in my home 5 days a week and they would be so drawn to the buttons, as well the water one was $2999.00 $600. more is too much for me .
Really thank you , I totally sympathize with what you are goig through, we will get what we want.
HA to sears .
I'm one of your regulars...but don't always comment.....
ReplyDelete..been enjoying your blog for quite some time now....
Hi. I've never heard of Google reader (but will sertainly take a look) so I'm not one of your 53 subscribers. But I'm regularly in your blog to see what you're up to. I just love your style.
ReplyDeleteLaila from Norway.
your titles used to show up; i think they only disappeared in like the last month. oh, and clearly i'm one of the 53. how do you find out how many people are subscribed?
ReplyDeleteWish I was a mystery, but clearly, I leave paint and art behind wherever I go, so you would quickly figure out it was me. I try to be fashionably late but never miss a party!
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone who delurked. Please stick around - I'd love to hear your comments.
ReplyDeleteKyle - Yes I do like that blog. Believe it or not, I do stray beyond the Home Improvement section once in a while :)
Um - guilty.... I don't remember how I fell on your blog but when I did I fell in love. I live in Colorado and would DIE to have the architecture here that you are lucky to have back East. So the deconstruction and reconstruction of your home has been mesmerizing..
ReplyDeletePlus, you are too hilarious - I feel your pain on the empty living room!
Catching up on my reading...yup, I'm one of the 53. If I remember right I found you on the D&R board. Love your blog and have been referring other people to it for a while now. Keep up all the good work!
ReplyDeleteI use Google Reader too. There's a bookmark you can get (two actually, one for subscribing) that allows you to go from one new post to the next in the order they're posted, newest first. I found it somewhere on the Google Reader page. If I figure out how to get it to you, I will.
ReplyDeleteFOUND IT! Ok, go here: http://www.google.com/reader/settings
ReplyDeleteUnder the "Goodies" tab, scroll down to "Put Reader in a bookmark."
Go to the link marked "Next" and right click it, click on "Add to favorites."
There ya go, you can scroll from post to post and not have to go through the feeder's template to read them all. I usually just keep my favorites bar open on the left and click "next" as I read each one. Email me if you have any problems.
Add me to the list! I've been following your blog for a while and LOVE everything you've done!!
ReplyDeleteps how did you find out how many subscribers you have?
Come to tarrytown and we will go along main street, find you an antique or something that will look great, load it in your car, have an icecream and you will be set! catalogues and customer service are lacking big time.
ReplyDeleteThanks again to all of those that delurked. So glad to see people are actually reading my random posting :)
ReplyDeletePVE: I don't think Ive ever been to Tarrytown. I can't afford a proper antique. Are there affordable shops there?
PS: You can see the # of subscribers by unhiding the details at the upper right hand corner of the reader window.

ReplyDeleteWell, thanks for giving this blogger a techno-clue. I'm just an old-fashioned girl, I guess, clicking on my favorite blogs each day from my bookmarked list. I didn't really know what Google Reader was or how it worked until you mentioned it and gave us the link. I just set up an account and am going to give it a try. -Julia :-)
ReplyDeleteI really only recently discovered google reader - the only thing that is bothersome to me is that I can't comment through it, to me it ends up being double work.
ReplyDeleteSo, I did just subscribe (now 54) but I'll presumably still be stopping by the good old fashioned way so I can comment as well.
