Had a very small get together this weekend to celebrate my brother's birthday. Not the first time we've had people over but this was the first time we've offically invited people over to celebrate an occassion and eat.
It was very informal so I threw together some small platters of sandwiches, fruit, cheese and hummus. A good time was had by all but it reminded me that I'm not quite ready for a proper party. For one thing, I don't own a salt shaker. Im sure I had more than one before I moved here but they have all packed up and moved away. I also don't seem to have any cloth napkins. We did just fine with paper but if we're having a seated meal, cloth would be nicer. Wish I had picked up those blue dwellstudio napkins at Target when I had the chance. Oh well.
But with the inevitable in mind, I've finally placed the wine rack Mr. Limestone bought while outlet shopping so many months ago. Its been living elsewhere for so long that I nearly forget we bought it for this house!
It looks a little sad with just that duo of wine bottles there, doesn't it? I think I should bring it some company :)
Awesome wine rack! That's a great find!
ReplyDeleteI love the wine rack, too, and think you host a BYOB party for it. :-) Lame question, but what did you use to write on your mirror?
ReplyDeleteNice rack! Bwahaha
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how things just disappear when you move?
Laura - I used Crayola washable window markers (http://www.misterart.com/grouppix/280x210/5000/g5006.jpg) but they don't do a great job. They are too transparent. I have some chalk ink markers on the way for my chalkboard so I will try those on the mirror next time.
ReplyDeleteand it fits so perfectly into that little space ...
ReplyDeleteI loooove that wine rack! I want it!!! Lucky you. Yeah, the bottles look a little lonely though - it's a good excuse for you to stock up on some more wine.
ReplyDeleteYour home is looking just marvellous. I really like that wine rack!
ReplyDeleteLove the wine rack!
ReplyDeleteHeehee, I drink wine way too fast to ever need a wine rack. But I love yours!
ReplyDeleteYour table looks beautiful, as does the wine rack. I'm sure your party was a big success and that your guests loved being in your lovely home.
ReplyDeleteWilliams-Sonoma has some great basic cloth napkins in their hotel linens collection. They are reasonably priced, and mine have held up well after some 15 years of use. They're available in both dinner and cocktail size.
I agree with the others, the wine rack fits beautifully into your decor. Are you planning to put anything on top of the shelf?
ReplyDeleteTotally love those columns!
Naz - what columns?
ReplyDeleteI haven't really thought about putting something on the top shelf. I don't drink brandy so we don't have any decanters. I think I'll put some bottles up there when we entertain but thats about it.
I've been lurking here for a while, but I have to tell you how much I love this blog. Every single thing you pick out is divine, and I love to see all the new decor! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThe columns flanking the large mirror. Your home has all those special accents that make a house beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHaha - I didn't even think of those! Clearly Im blind :)
ReplyDeleteThat rack is gorgeous, it matches your super elegant dining room so well!
ReplyDeleteIt's the thought that counts and that you had time together. Stock up on napkins on sale/ Just bought some over at Anthropologie and love them!
ReplyDeleteI do prefer cloth over paper, however my teenage son told me he and his friend had "burgers" at a spot, where not a knife, fork or napkin was given.
Guess "home" looks really good now!
I'm new here and have truly enjoyed my leisurely stroll through your beautiful pictures. I'm hooked and I'm looking forward to my next visit.
ReplyDeleteGosh, your home is so beautiful! Congrats! What a long journey it's been!
ReplyDeleteYour home is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWell as they say experience is the best teacher. Maybe you can hrow a party next time and apply what you have learned.
