Even if I am sort of too young to remember this famous Oscar speech Sally Field made in 1985, that doesn't stop it from popping into my head when I headed over to Rate My Space and saw that my office as the #1 top rated!!
Particularly amazing when you consider the "competition". One of them being the the more fabulous offices ever, courtesy of Wanderluster. I mean, come on, how amazing is this built in??
I'm sure its just a freak technical accident that I made it to the top of the list but its still a very sweet surprise on this freezing Friday morning. I admit, I was pretty nervous posting there at first because I was worried about people ripping me a new one. Thankfully, people seemed to genuinely like it. That was a relief. So thanks to everyone who rated giving me a nice little surprise gift this freezing Friday morning.
Ok, I will confess I was a little taken aback by one commenter who suggested I change my doorknob. The doorknobs are one of my absolute most favorite features in my house! In fact, they were one of the reasons I could see the potential in what was a pretty nasty state of things when we saw our house for the first time. But hey - everyone has their own taste so I appreciate the comments anyway.
Ive also gotten some nice feedback on my dining room and kitchen although I don't think I'll be making it to the top of that list ever. :)
Congrats,
ReplyDeleteBut really...how could it not be number one??!! It's divine, dahling. And I am too young to remember who said that, too!!
It's always good to be too young to remember something, as opposed to too old to remember it!!
Linda
Congrats! The office is beautiful, and I especially love the framed pegboard... It's pretty AND functional...
ReplyDelete(and I also would not change the doorknobs - love them!)
The office is great! And your kitchen is perfect. I love nothing more than white cabinets and black counters. I have honed black granite but I love the soapstone. Is it porous?
ReplyDeleteDon't even think about changing your doorknobs! They're gorgeous! If you do, I'd gladly take them off your hands :) Love everything about your home. It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! Your office is totally fabulous. And do NOT change your doorknobs...that would be a huge mistake :)

ReplyDeleteYour office is fantastic! I would love it as a studio.
ReplyDeleteI could come up with all sorts of inspiration from your rug alone!
D~
And the door-knobs are a treasure!
Don't worry, I have no plans of getting rid of those doorknobs!
ReplyDeletePaperCourt - Soapstone is not at all pourous. It does scratch but we haven't had an issue with that so far. We were very close to getting honed black granite but I was never able to see more than a small sample of it anywhere. How do you like it?
Your office if fabulous, doorknobs and all. We are in the process of remodeling a guest room and an office so I like to see what other people are doing. Your postings on Rate My Space are what brought me to your blog. I love your sense of style in the kitchen and dining room too. I hope you post more soon!
ReplyDeleteI foresee a phone call coming your way to be on the RMS show. That room is so creative and fun - I love it!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't get to rate your space, but I would have rated it good as well. I love your office, I could be inspired there. thank you!
ReplyDeleteCute! Awww congrats!
ReplyDeleteEven though you're the competition, I rated your office 5* mrs.limestone ;) I love all your spaces.
ReplyDeleteYour place is great! I am afraid to start looking on Rate My Space because I would never get anything done. I LOVE houses & I LOVE decorating them. Yours is wonderful. I love the outside too:) Congrats.
ReplyDeleteI grew up with those doorknobs and I love them. I wish I had taken them when my granny sold her house. they just scream HiStory. Remove them? WHAT THA?
ReplyDeleteYes, Mrs. L, we really like you. How could we not - you have impeccable taste and a budget we covet! xo Terri
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your office....you deserve those top ratings, sister!
ReplyDeleteWell deserved!! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteTake a screen shot! It will be gone in a flash!
ReplyDeleteMy dining room was top rated last Sunday when I woke up and I took a screen shot because I was so shocked (it's on Flickr...sarch for "HGTV RMS" and I'm sure it'll show up). It was gone in an hour and wasn't anywhere on the first several pages of top rated rooms. I concluded that either a) HGTV deliberately shuffles the top spaces to keep people interested or b) as soon as a room is top rated, negative nellies show up to take the rating down.
Regardless, your office is eclectic, fun, and beautiful. Congratulations!
Congrats...it's well deserved!
ReplyDeleteIt is gorgeous, cool, functional and unique. Of course it should be leading the pack!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a gorgeous office space, it's no wonder it's doing well over there. I love the whole thing, esp. that zebra rug. I'm really into zebra these days & just recovered my office bulletin board in it (which I'll share on my blog soon). It's such a fresh accent.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I absolutely remember Sally Field's speech, I was watching back then. I don't get all that excited about those shows now though.
Wanderluster has great taste too!
Congrats! I love your doorknobs. I would enjoy working in your office.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Your office is amazing!
ReplyDeleteMrs. L, I got brave because of you & decided to put my office space up on RMS. Not that I'm any match for YOU or Wanderluster, but I do love my office nook, so that's the only space I'm going to put on there.
ReplyDeleteI haven't put up anything there since they first started a few years ago. It's too negative for me for the most part, but I figured an office space couldn't get too much damage. And I don't think they used to have that category either, so I was happy they added it. So, we'll see how I do!
congrats, well deserved. you always have very doable inspiration and i love reading your blog!
ReplyDeleteKeep the doorknobs! I remember in my grandma's house we still had the skeleton keys! We needed them when the doorknobs would fall off! lol
ReplyDeleteWhat an absolute dream office!! Congrats on a well-deserved number one standing. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you don't mind, but I'm going to feature your space on my House of Turquoise blog tomorrow!
Well I don't think it's a freak technical accident at all. :-) Your room looks great...and it's functional! It's a 5 star office for sure.
