Its almost funny that I have been talking about coffee tables for more than a year. Almost.
Slightly old photo but just to give you an idea of what Im referring.
Its not urgent but no less frustrating. I already have a coffee table but from my last house but its a little bit "heavy" for the space. I wanted something that added a little sparkle and took up less space visually. We need a coffee table downstairs in the man room and this one is perfect for that so no wasting.
I ordered this table from Drexel heritage last spring. Waited patiently. They lost my tables and put me on a wild goose chase for weeks. Then I lost my marbles, got frustrated and just cancelled the whole thing. I guess Drexel Heritage isn't worrying itself with this whole global slowdown thing - they don't need my money and let me know it. I really like their pieces but this experience TOTALLY turned me off to them. Shortly thereafter, they nearly doubled the price for this thing. I guess this company really is doing well but they won't be getting any recommendations from me.
A bit later on, I was alerted to a nice option at Restoration Hardware. It was backordered but I put my order in. No problem, I'm a patient woman. A few weeks go by and Im sent a form email from Restoration Hardware that they won't be getting any more of these afterall. I called and politely asked if I could get the manufacterer's name to hunt for it on my own. No dice, no apology, no nothing. Its as if these furniture companies were doing me a favor by taking my money! Arghhh.
All the while I was stalking various old furniture stores, ebay and craigslist for the right thing but it never even got close. It was as if I was searching for a flying elephant at the zoo.
Are you still awake? For those not sleeping on the keyboard, I tentatively report I have purchased another coffee table. This one to be exact.
It fits the bill on the double shelf, the metallic finish, the pretty style. And on clearance!!
I already ordered it but if my history is any indication, that doesn't mean a whole lot. It may or may not arrive depending upon the whim of the furniture gods.
So here I patiently wait AGAIN for what I call a coffee table and you may call a cocktail table. By any other name, just as sweet. I don't really put coffee or cocktails on here...should I be calling it my takeout-eating-craft-space-footrest table?
What a great deal! I hope it works out. Love your blog and your house is sooo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely table! It will look great in the space. I'll cross my fingers for you that it will come in time.
ReplyDeleteThat one looks great and you can't beat the price. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
ReplyDeleteohh, i love it! i like it better than the first 2 actually. hope it all works out and can't wait to see what it looks like in your room!
ReplyDeleteI loved it when I saw you post it on decorpad and I'm STILL loving it! It says Mrs L all over it.
ReplyDeleteIf you need cocktails for your cocktail table, I can loan you mine. Ha.
Hope it shows! How frustrating.
ReplyDeleteI like the drexel one because its so clean and sexy. However, I also like the bassett one pretty well. Good luck. It will look fab in your room.
ReplyDeleteDo you have anymore pics of your redone kitchen with the turq/robin egg blue bar stools?
My fingers are crossed. 3rd times the charm. xo, MB
ReplyDeleteOh good luck. I think it so beautiful and the best of the lot. BTW I say coffee table but really it's a magazine holder.
ReplyDeletekickymarcia: What sort of photo are you interested in seeing? I have a bunch but I think I posted them all.
ReplyDeleteI hope this one works out! It really is lovely, and will look great in your living room. Maybe third time is the charm!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely! I hope you get your table. We had a similar problem with a leather couch, chair, and ottoman we ordered through a company that my husband's store has an account with. It was hand-made in Italy, and I figured that was why it was taking so long. After about 12 weeks, hubby inquired after the order, and it turns out they had lost the order! the rep had never even sent it in...so we had to wait another 12 weeks. But it was worth it. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like that coffee table. Maybe the fates were against you with the other two tables because they knew that this much better one was lurking in the future.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love it! Doing a dance to the furniture gods that you get your table!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful table. I hope it gets to you without any problems.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it! I hope this one (finally) works out. You've put in enough effort, you deserve a pretty, shiny table.
ReplyDeleteI like this one the best. Hope we actually see it in your house sometime soon. And Freckles Chick, would you consider hosting a cocktail party for us when Mrs. Limestone gets her cocktail table.
ReplyDeleteI hope the third one is the charm!

OMG I LOVE it! I can't believe that price! What a great find!
ReplyDeleteGreat find. I like this one the best and the price can't be beat. Hoping it arrives as expected, and perhaps with a "thank you for your business in these trying economic times" love note. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely, Mrs. L! Crossing all my fingers and toes for you!
ReplyDeleteI hope it all works out! It is a lovely piece!!!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, that is a fabulous bargain! I love it. I am on the lookout for a coffee table for my living room. {Kind of embarrassingly} the one I have now is from IKEA. I think it's time for a big girl coffee table. :)
ReplyDeleteThe only thing more fabulous than the table is the price...great sourcing! Janell (keeping my fingers crossed this one actually arrives at your doorstep)
ReplyDeleteI like the second coffee table much better. I would love to have one like that. Sometimes when things don't go the way we hoped, there is something better coming along to make us smile.
ReplyDeleteOOPS! I meant to say I liked the LAST table the best, the one you ordered from Bassett. :)
ReplyDeleteNow that kickymaricia mentions it, I don't remember seeing the kitchen bar chairs posted with the new turquoise color either.
ReplyDeleteI love the table and hope this time the third times the charm and you get it.
Here is to a new coffee/coctail/take-out table!
ReplyDeleteHope you get it in your hot little hands soon!
Love the table, but I'm amazed that you're still willing to ORDER anything! You're a more patient woman than I.
ReplyDeleteI actually just saw the side table yesterday at a Bassett that is closing and thought it had such a great shape. Now I'm thinking I may need it! Love your blog.....I stalk it all the time!
ReplyDeleteI really like that table as well and I really hope it gets to you! What a pain it has been for you to get the stuff you order. Nice customer service from those other places as well!
ReplyDeleteOMG...What a score! I hope that it all works out for you...fabulous find, doLL!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I have that Drexel table and LOVE it more every day (I am so sorry...).
ReplyDeleteI hope this one works out, and as sad as it is, it is nice to see this decorating business is a total pain in the ass for others, not just me. I cannot purchase a 9x12 jute rug anywhere in Canada. Nor can I find a thick green rug for my kitchen that isn't synthetic and less than $300. Searching for decor is like finding a needle in a haystack sometimes.
I think the thing to do is start a We Can Find and Get You Anything concierge decorating service for people on budgets (people who can't or won't shop at 1st Dibs, say!)....I would pay for that.
