In the past, I've blogged about simple projects but I'll warn you this one isn't quite so simple. Its just a fun one and I wanted to share.
Mr. Limestone is hosting a bachelor party at Met's baseball game for one of our closest friends. Since its a little bit more involved than a throw together meet up with the boys, invites were in order. Naturally, I was all over the task.
We tossed around a bunch of ideas before settling on this one. Take a peak inside how it went down. A note for the observant: I don't have hairy man hands - thats my husbands guns and I'm behind the camera.
As you can tell from the photos, this took quite a bit of elbow grease and time over several days but I think they were worth it. These are the kinds of invites I love to receive and love to make. (Hint, hint - if and when I ever get a surprise birthday party, a box is invariably more exciting than an envelope.)
Those invitations are so incredible! I would love to open my mailbox and find one of those little beauties. You remembered all the details, down to the astroturf!
ReplyDeleteThat is one fabulous invite!! Crazy fun. Your previous post, with the message board idea, also caught my eye...I was literally brainstorming about how to make one when I opened your blog, so now I have a better idea of what to do! Thanks...Janell
ReplyDeleteOMG, these are brilliant!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I don't even like baseball and I'd love to receive one of these! The astroturf is just too cool.

ReplyDeleteDid you just create the design on your computer & print it out on iron-on sheet???
ReplyDeleteThese are really awesome. I love that they are truly invites that even men will be excited about. I love seeing your invites. Did you guys make the boxes yourselves? What program do you use to design your invites?
ReplyDeleteThose are amazing! Seriously, that bad boy would get hung up somewhere and would never be thrown away.

Completely speechless....my son is a baseball fanatic and my daughter-in-law is a creative invitation designer (just for fun, but I keep telling her she should start a design business). They will flip when they see these!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing job. They look stunning. What guy wouldn't like that you are so creative. When you get a chance can you stop by blog I would to hear of what you think about my latest project. I'm calling it a forest in our master bedroom.
ReplyDeleteFor the record, Im not a baseball fan either. I don't really understand watching strangers playing with balls in general.
ReplyDeleteKoodeker - Yep, exactly.
Hello Lover - I used Illustrator and Photoshop b/c thats what Im most comfy with but these were a very simple design. They could have been done in any program.
Yansy - Popping over there now.
What a great idea! Until, I saw the baseball get glued on I thought you were making coaster invitations. I'm sure all the guys will be shocked!
ReplyDeleteMy jaw just hit my desk when I saw this, those invites are out of this world! They are so darling, and I cant believe you made them all yourself- I am in LOVE!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful. I'm with you. Getting a box invite is so much better. Makes you feel like you are getting a little treat. How were they received so far? I know women love this kind of stuff but were any of the men gushing? They had better.
ReplyDeleteHands down the most creative invitation I've ever seen. You are so talented.
ReplyDeleteChelly - Mr. L has been talking to the guests so I don't know all the details. I did get to hear one guest say the invites were "fucking awesome". So i think that counts as positive feedback. I guess guys do things a little differently :)
ReplyDelete'fucking awesome' is the highest order of compliment a guy can give for anything so you 'hit a home run with these' (har har)!
ReplyDeleteI'm astounded. The amount of work and thought to detail these took is incredible. Your husband is one lucky man to have such a creative wife.
Super fun! Well worth the effort! I'm sure the invited guests and groom would agree!
ReplyDeleteFirst, I am so glad you clarified that those were not your hairy forearms, phew! Second, these are incredibly, incredibly creative!

ReplyDeleteKylie
Amazing!!! They are adroable. I would cherish an invitation like this.
ReplyDeleteI once sent Christmas cards in a box. Our sentiment was on a flat card and then the next flat card had a picture of the kiddies. And underneath that was chocolates. It was my favorite Christmas card ever. I just might have to do it again this year.
What a creative invitation! They're amazing. Not sure about the cost of sending 3D cards/invites here in Australia but this is a great idea. The closest I've come is sending a card with instructions on how to stick together the paper cake slice I'd put on the front of the card. I got a good response from the receiver!
ReplyDeleteFifty SIX comments? Um, seriously??? You are totally my hero.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE them. Can you send me high res? I need to feature these.
P.S. MR. LIMESTONE: CONTACT ME BEFORE EVEN THINKING ABOUT HAVING A SURPRISE B'DAY FOR THE MRS., OK?
