Candelier, light my way.

I don't know why but I like saying that word. Or in this case, a non word. Candelier, Candelier, Candelier.

I toyed with the idea of taking a proper vintage chandelier and then ripping the guts out to use it for this purpose. In my minds eye, it would have been great but then I realized they don't grow cute vintage chandeliers on trees. In my searches I stumbled upon this little iron number on ebay for less than $30. Sold! Should I find that perfect chandy sitting the garbage one day, I won't feel too bad for demoting this one. Until then, it does nicely. Don't you think?

Candlier
We hung it quickly to add a little bit of pretty to the backyard. Still a ways to go but its coming along piece by piece. (I know it needs to be hung lower but I'm just too lazy to fix it now.)

There are much better examples of the candelier on the interwebs. Im already drawn to the electrified versions so this fixture stalking should come as no surprise. Take a look.

So are you with me on this fascination? Do you have one of them yourself?

Now if I could only figure out how to light the damn thing without pouring hot wax all over myself.

  1. I love the top picture the most. It looks best when it's just about night fall.

  2. Love it, but open fire scares me a bit, especially so close to wood. It's really very beautiful though & looks great in your urban outdoor space :)

  3. I love the look...I have too many candles and candeliers in our outdoor area to even mention. Time to edit!

  4. Love it! Gives me deck such a cozy feel...I'm with you on the dripping wax though!!!

  5. Love the 5th from the bottom. There's one from Restoration Hardware that's similar that I've been eyeing for a while, but the price is keeping me from taking the plunge.

  7. I think this is the first time I have commented but I love this idea and think you are off to a great start. I have one in my bedroom that is just for looks. Would love to have an outside space to hang it but don't yet. Great look!

  11. No, don't have one but the one from sunset mag and good housekeeping are awesome! Love those! That was a great ebay find for your patio - I think it's perfect (albeit hung lower like you said).

  19. I kinda thought it WAS a word. Well, it SHOULD be anyway! I too, am now in love with candeliers. Especially that last one from Country Living. I am sooooooo wishing for fall here in the deep south.

  21. Cute!! Although I am not convinced a chandelier is strong enough to hold a pumpkin! I wouldn't risk that, lol!

  22. I think my fave is your ebay steal!! I've been wanting one of these puppies forever, why did I not think of ebay?!?! Duh. Thank you! Also, I think the 2nd one down (after your pics) is the knock-off Restoration Hardware did. It's based on the $12,000 Holly Hunt beaut!

Go to IQVC.COM and order the flameless candles. They are battery operated and you can get some of them on timers. They are awesome and realistic looking. They even have flameless votives.
