Hung.

Remember this post? After looking at them for a little while, I was digging the Manhattan Bridge photos I had taken but still wasn't quite sold that they were perfect for that spot. Then I realized its been two years and I hadn't quite found anything else perfect so what was I waiting on exactly? The print order went in.

After much cursing at the Ikea frames construction, the photos are hung.

I'm so happy I finally decided to put up some of my own photos. ( I know a lot of you have some beautiful photos of your own just sitting in your hard drive collecting dust. Go ahead, take the plunge - even if you don't think they are perfect)

Even though its a very small thing compared to all the renovation work in this room, it makes the room feel so much more finished. Don't you think?

You'll notice I did get a little gray rug from Target. If you want your very own, its on clearance right now. Couldn't quite bring myself to splurge on the $80 bathcaddy from Pottery Barn nor could I bother to buy the one the might rust from Walmart. So I'll save that for another day.

What do you think? Should I add anything else in here? As always, suggestions are welcome.

  1. They look gorgeous! It really means something when it's your own work.

Is it feasible to hang a chandelier above the tub? Too much perhaps? Regardless the room is smashing!

  2. love the pics and the frames! And I am with you on the IKEA construction of frames! grrrr...

something to add? I feel like there should be some candles somewhere? Maybe a tall pillar candel stand in the back right corner? or a floating shelf at the foot of the tub with some candles? or maybe...I just LOVE candles so I feel they need to be there! and yes its missing a bathcaddy but $80 is a little crazy!

  3. Hi BT - I think the photo makes the room look larger than it really is. There really isn't room for a chandelier in here.

Thanks Linz. I cut my fingers on the Ikea glass. Looks like I was fighting with an angry cat or something.

Love your bath and am drooling on it as an inspiration for our own remodel. Perhaps three more photos added above would create that "wow" look and finish it off?

  5. It looks awesome! The pictures really add something to it, I think, but they pefectly complement the already gorgoues bathroom. I love it!

Love your blog - love everything about everything on here. Your blog was my FIRST! And I've been a follower ever since. Well I do have a question for you. I'm pretty sure you'll have a design solution for me. A fancy living room bay window ... what kind of window treatment????? I'm obsessing and need your HELP! I have the fabric - mossy green silk with fabulous fringe. Thank you soooo much for listening.

  8. You might not like this suggestion, because it means framing more pictures, but how about adding four more photos - two at the head of the tub and two at the foot of the tub - it might give you a 'tub enclosure' kind of feeling since you're not using a shower curtain.

  9. I love the additions! The frames and the black and white of the photos really look great in this room.
The only thing I can think of is that maybe you could add another row of three photos above the three that are there, or maybe a large mirror or another large picture with a similar simple silver frame.
This could be totally off if the scale of the picture is wrong and you don't have that much wall height left before the ceiling. Either way I love the new look!

  10. Have loved this bathroom from your first post about it! It's so relaxing. The gray rug and your photos turned out so well. I just hung up some travel photos in our guest room. It's so nice to get them out of Facebook and onto my real wall!

That bathroom is pretty much perfection. I just want to soak in that tub! I would definitely add a bath caddy in the future. It would add that one last thing I think the room needs!

  28. With regard to the caddy, why don't you take a trip to Marshalls or TJ Maxx? It might be a bit of a trip (or maybe you are one of those fortunate New Yorkers with a car), but you may very well find it for cheaper.

  30. I think it looks great! I looked through my photos and I realized I have a lot that would work well on the wall, instead of purchasing a bunch of prints from a store like Ikea--I can have my own version.

Nothing else really needed--less is more I like to say. :)

Your pictures looks beautiful! I think you picked out some great shots. I'm doing the same with my own photos in my downstairs bath!

  32. What about a tiny driftwood stool in the corner behind where the door opens? I always like a surface to sit on in a bathroom, if it can fit. Hard to tell from the photos. Or maybe a little bleached wood table with some rolled up towels? - it seems a little like it might echo in there and something organic and textural might have a softening effect. I LOVE your color selections and the floor tiles.
