Before I type anything else - I just wanted to thank all of you who left such sweet comments about my mention in the UK times best design bloggers list. Thank you so much!
So back to the topic of my post: COOKIIIIEEESSS!
And yes, Im saying that in my best cookie monsters impersonation.
Remember the cookie party exchange invitations I made for a friend? I was also an invited guest so the pressure was on. Have I mentioned I can't seem to make a decent cookie to save my life?
But when I saw plum jam sitting on the shelf of the Bedford Cheese Shop, I had an idea: Sugarplum Shortbreads!
Using some leftover aqua boxes from another project, I padded the box with a bit of pink shred (homemade in the shredder). Two short stacks of cookies went into cupcake liners before the box was closed up.
A custom label and a bit of striped ribbon finished the presentation.
Half the boxes got the purse treatment. The other half got a more streamlined label over ribbon look.
Despite my complete lack of skills in the cookie department, these are really tasty. Too bad I didn't keep a box for myself! If you want to try your hand at them, here is the recipe.
Happy Baking!
What a fun treat - and a beautiful package design. I know these were a hit!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Mrs. L!

It probably wouldn't matter if they tasted like rocks, with a presentation like that! I bet the recipients think they are getting edible gold!
ReplyDeleteWhat I'm trying to say, is they look yummy and absolutely beautiful! Where do you get your boxes?

ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I'm not sure I could open the box! And you gave me a great idea for packaging some goodies I plan to give out! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI'd also like to know where you get your boxes? I've been packaging cookies in all sorts of ways but I love the way you did yours. :)
ReplyDeleteThe package design is just WAY too fabulous. PLEASE move to CA and become my neighbor and BFF. We'll have so much fun planning parties and decorating up the wazoo! ; )
ReplyDeleteThat has to be one of the best presentations for homemade cookies I've ever seen. Very cute and clever.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Joanne

Gorgeous boxes and labels ! Thanks for the recipes !
ReplyDeletethats the most gorgeous packaging ever!!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone. I don't remember exactly where I ordered these boxes. I know it was online and it was in Feb. I checked my usual haunts like usbox.com and papermart.com and while they have similiar stuff, they don't have this color. So Im not sure if I used a random company or they just don't carry these anymore.
ReplyDeleteI have extra boxes left over so if you don't need a ton, send me an email. If I have enough of them to help, Ill be happy to send you what I have.
I love the boxes I wish I could make something similar! Happy holidays and congrats on the UK Times mention!
ReplyDeleteIn case I don't get back here this week I wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas....

ReplyDeleteYou always go that extra distance in everything you do. You always inspire me.
ReplyDelete:-)
Thanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteAnon - I don't know where the original recipe came from. I had a glazed version written in my recipe box so I must have found it a year or more ago and I modified it for this. (I didn't like the glazed version at all. It was so much better without.) I suspect this is the basic recipe for any kind of simple cookie. Doesn't get more simple than this.
Presentation is everything! Everything tastes better when it's in a pretty package;o)
ReplyDeleteReally, just quit your day job and open up a shop - in Brooklyn and I would come and shop. You really have such a magical way of "presentation!"
