This time around, I'm not fawning over another blog but a local brick and morter store. Aptly called, FIND home furnishings - this store sits on one of the most unassuming blocks in Brooklyn. I stumbled on it completely by accident (Its sits right across the street from Lowes, so I stumble on it a lot!)
I admit I've been lurking in there, just browsing, for quite a while. I never made a visit without having a long list of things I wanted to bring home with me. The space is huge - full of furniture and accessories to keep me occupied for entirely too long.
This time around, I spoke to the owners who were very approachable and knowledgeable. We talked about home decor trends - everything from mid century mod to Scandanavian limed. They were kind enough to let me snap some photos to share with you.
The store is broken into little vignettes. Each are outfitted as if you just walked into some (impossibly stylish) apartment where the owners just steped out. I struggle with accessories so this is a skill I'm really quite in awe of.
This industrial library corner was definitely my favorite. Bookshelf with ladder? Metal map cabinet? Old books? Swoon.
And I'm still thinking of these gorgeous coffee sack upholstered chairs!
If you are in the area, definitely make a detour to stop here. The website has a several of their larger pieces but you can't really get the full effect without stepping over the threshold. And it just so happens everything in the store is 30% off right now so yet another reason to stop in.
You may have guessed already but I did finally buy something. Well, two things. I'll show you their new homes in a future post.
Talk about a "find"!!! WOW! What a great shop! I'll probably be dreaming about that map cabinet, bookshelves and painted hutch for days!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Looks like a great shop - makes me wish I lived in NY! :) I also really love those coffee sack upholstered chairs... my heart skipped a beat when I saw them. Even if I can't shop there... thank you for sharing such a great find of a store!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait until you post what you bought!
ReplyDeleteGasp! That place is gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteHey, what lens are you using lately? Is it a fisheye or just REALLY wide? : )
Another great resource in your area, I'd be completely broke if I was near all these places!
ReplyDeleteSo, don't keep us in suspense too long...what did you get? Love those chairs. LOVE.

DH and I drive by that place almost every morning on the way to work and DH has always wanted to stop in. We finally looked up their website and were completely non-plussed with the offerings and price point. It's interesting to see how different the storefront space is from the online presence - if their site looked like their store we would have made plans to visit.
ReplyDeleteOH what a gorgeous store!!! Can't wait to see your purchase :)
ReplyDeletelove that store..
ReplyDeleteAnd yet again I'm wishing I lived in New York...
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you bought! I love that library vingette too.

Those coffee sack chairs are to die for!!!! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled into FIND as well! (Also on a trip to Lowe's-- that store has surprisingly good customer service.) Every time I'm in there I wish for the money fairies to bring a surprise gift to my bank account so I can spend it all on some exotic treasures at FIND.
ReplyDeletethe BLAH BLAH BLAHger: Im using a fish eye lens in the photos that look very wide (and distorted here). I don't pull it out that often but sometimes I like the effect.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that fabulous store is in Brooklyn! I lved there for 19 years (granted that was from age 0 to 18) I wish I was still in Brooklyn so I could shop there for the house we're building! What a great "FIND!"
ReplyDeleteI would love to have those chairs annnd that table~ to die for!

Wow! What an incredible looking place! Seriously, between this store and the flea market, I really need to get up to Brooklyn one of these days.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd be lost for hours just checking out all the unique merchandise they have there. The name of the store fits perfectly because it sure is a FIND. Thanks so much for sharing this very interesting place.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a fantastic store!
ReplyDeleteThat place is right across the street from New York Old Iron! We stumbled on it when we went looking for a replacement gate. Loved the stuff they had! The prices? Not so much.
ReplyDeleteLaura - Its 59 9th Street (no need to write it down, its on their website)
ReplyDeleteGreat store!
ReplyDeleteStores like these are exactly why I miss New York so much.

I purchased 2 gorgeous light fixtures from FIND a few weeks ago. They have some amazing & unique pieces.
ReplyDeleteWow, this looks like a fantastic place! Can't wait to see what you FOUND!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful home and in BKLYN. My hometown and also was raised in a brownstone. I always loved the character in these buildings. You have done an EXTRAORDINARY job!! Did yours still have gas lines intact? We still had them and they still worked. We had one in our dining area where a gas chandelier went.
