In my nearly 5 years of Brooklyn Limestone, I don't think I've ever called a room really and truly finished before. There is always something I want to add or change. Well guess what? I'm calling one done.
Thanks to my favorite find at Brimfield, I'm feeling pretty happy with how my little room looks now. Sure, its not perfect. I never got around to getting a big glass top made (but I'm not sure I need it since I've been using it without for so long) but enough is enough.
Here it is before and during the renovation
Even though its tiny, I've put quite a lot of time (but not a lot of money) in making it what I wanted: A little bit old but feminine. If you missed the sporadic updates over the past few years, here are the cliffnotes: After we renovated, I had to beat back my internal slob, then I made a new friend, then I turned a found door into a desk workspace , hung a birdcage, laid a flor rug and finally, made an ephemera inspired window treatment.
Of course the ultimate irony now is that I'm fully planning on changing it up in here to solve card catalog "problem". That means the desk is going to get cut which means the art work has to change configuration (at least) and who knows what else I'll do in here. But that is definitely a 2012 project. Now if I could only feel as complete with the rest of the house!
It really looks fantastic. Did this used to be the box room?
ReplyDeleteIt looks great - The desk and the dress form are my fav parts
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, love the color on the walls! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks. Yep, this is the box room. Took a few years but I finally rid myself of calling it that.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great - someday, SOMEDAY I will have my own room, too :D
ReplyDeleteWoot Woot for finished rooms!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Love the flor tiles and the soothing wall color.
ReplyDeletewow! it looks amazing! i love the color, the door, and the styling!
ReplyDeleteIt is a BEAUTIFUL room, your limestone renovations should have been a tv show - I'd have watched!
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic! What is the color you used on the walls?
ReplyDeleteIt's Benjamin Moore Silver Marlin.
ReplyDeleteI always loved your box room - it made me feel 'normal' and that you were a real, live person who blogged about their house :-) It gives this room a real history!
ReplyDeleteYou can call it done because it's just so stinking beautiful! Congrats Stefanie.
ReplyDeleteYes, the chair is PERFECT in there. One room "complete" is such a great feeling to have. The only "completed" room in my house is our first floor bathroom, ha! But I love the feeling I have when I'm in there. And at 38 weeks pregnant, I'm in there quite a lot these days ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe card catalog will fit in great, as well... :)
Lovely! I could work in there :-)

I love this room! Love the gallery wall and the birdcage! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I have a door table as well and used a sheet of plexiglass instead of actual glass as a top. I found it to be quite durable (doesn't scratch like crazy like I thought it would) and it is waaaay cheaper than glass.
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely! That faux bois runner is divine.
ReplyDeleteLove the gallery of "old" art ~ charming! And your colors are divine. Kudos!
ReplyDeleteI adore your gallery wall and that wall colour is gorgeous - the exact shade I'm thinking of for my own bedroom. :)

It's been a long time coming but I must admit that I'm looking forward to the card catalog joining the room.
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous!! I love the feminine touches.
ReplyDeleteThe room is quite lovely and fantastic!
ReplyDeleteClassic beauty that would last a long time.
ReplyDeleteWow what a transformation, you've really put a lot of work into it and produced outstanding results.
ReplyDeleteWell done and good luck :-)
Love the room! Are these the original floors? They look a lot like the before picture, but I wasn't sure if it was possible to sand out the water damage. Curious since we have the same issue.
ReplyDeleteThe floors are mostly original. Where there was water damage, we took some extra flooring from other rooms (for example where we made a bathroom from a bedroom) to use for the repair.
