Away we went.

One of my (many!) shortcomings I'm trying to work on this year is being more organized. So it comes as no surprise to me that I never shared the finished photo book for 2010 that showed up months ago. (In some twisted corner of my mind, I was feeling quite accomplished for having completed the book just 9 months into the year!) Anyway, it arrived and I can now call my annual travel photo book a tradition as I stack it neatly on top of the 2009 edition.

I guess its time to work on the 2011 edition, huh?

Curious whats inside the pages? Flip through the 2010 version, 2009 version or read what I thought about the book's quality here.

  2. What a beautiful book and idea!  There are no words... wondering why you omitted any.  I keep slipping photo management and what to do with them down my list which means all the kids do not get to enjoy them; only me on my computer. Hardly fair.  I have used Shutterfly but noticed the paper or quality of phots were not as good as in the past. Maybe it was the style or size.  I read the older comments from last year's post.  One thing I did like you did was to include a few not perfect photos which made them totally perfect!  Thank you for sharing book 2009 and 2010. I am definitely inspired to get moving!

We had a photo book, rather than a photo album, made with Jordan and Charles's wedding pictures, and it was so nice.  Your photo books are lovely.

  4. I figure the photos are enough. Plus if I had to write out more, it would take even longer (and I was already nearly a year late)

  5. Blurb is having a sale until the end of the month. I need to get on it and finish up the two books I'm working on!

  6. I've never heard of blurb before.  I'm finding lately that there are a lot of things that I've never heard of before.  Am I getting old?  Anyway, love the books and pictures as well.  I've made a shutterfly book before.  I'm wondering what the difference is.  I guess I'll have to check it out.  Thanks!

You should go to Iceland! One of my favorite trips (Sept 2010), the landscape is beautiful and unique and great for photography.

  9. Ive seen the Shutterfly and the MyPublisher books and I think blurb is of a better quality (but also more expensive). I wish blurb had a better cover option but now that I have 2 of them in this format, I'm going to stick with it.

  10. Oh I know - I saw that this morning. There is zero chance Ill finish before the month end so I'll have to keep my fingers crossed for the next sale to time itself right.

I absolutely LOVE this idea! Where do you get your books printed? (And do you lay them out yourself?) I'd love to make something like this for my husband and I... especially since we're doing our best to take more personal photos these days!

  12. Thanks Erin. If you click into the books you'll see more about them. I do the layout myself using their software.

  14. I just thumbed through your 2010 book. Purely amazing! Can you adopt me so I can travel with you guys? Mr. W & I are big into traveling, but only take one big trip a year (and 2-3 small trips within the USA), not 4-6 big trips each year! Love your travel style. We are going to Rome & Venice in the fall and looking at your photos made me giddy with excitement! I typically just make a vacation book for each trip not a year in travel review; however, 2011 I had a lot more opportunities to travel, so I think I might need to do a 2011 travel book & finish up my last two individual travel books. I typically only use Shutterfly and have never used Blurb. Might have to give them a try.

I love this idea.  I now need to set aside some time and put together our travels. I noticed Buenos Aires.  I am heading there in 2 weeks I can't wait.  If there is a must do or go I would love to hear!

  16. Your photo books are lovely. I am impressed with the number of trips you take each year and the exotic destinations you choose.

Do you have any tips for creating a photobook? Just choosing the right shots from a selection of hundreds of photos is difficult and then to make it pleasing to the eye can be a bit overwhelming. At least for me...

This application never occurred to me...what a great gift idea for the person who is difficult to shop for (like grandmothers.) Thank you very much.
