Old Toys to Fab Decor {Super 7}

As you know, I don't have kids. But that doesn't mean I can't be stopped dead in my tracks when I see a clever way to reuse something common in a creative way. Totally love these. If I ever get my baby maker in action, I will definitely be stealing some of this genius.

1.

These whimsical bookends with a great take on the classic spraypaintandforgetit technique. They look like something right out of a modern boutique. Made by the always lovely Hi, Sugarplum.

2.

A table lamp made from toy soliders is actually a high end art piece from ryan mcelhinney but it seems like something a clever crafter could kill a DIY version.

3.

Speaking of killing it with plastic toys, lmnop walks us through a DIY art piece made with them.

4.

If you don't want to get your hands dirty but still love the look, you can simply purchase this animal jewelry rack from uncommon goods.

5.

This super smart use of a fire engine toy by Jasmine Orchard would be pretty cool for a kid at heart man cave.

6.

You can buy some toy truck planters from Fundemento Design but these seem like a super simple DIY project if you have a green thumb.

7.

And finally these porky place cards as seen at hatch creative are so simply genius I can't believe this the first time I've seen it done before. Just beautiful. I would love to use this idea for a pig roast BBQ at home.

If you want to know more about these items, be sure to visit the sites I've linked to above. Lots of great goodies to find at each.

Ok moms, what cool stuff have you done with your kids' castoffs?

On a related topic, how do you feel about this kind of post? I don't consider myself an stylista so Im always a bit leary of pretending like I am. Do you like these kind of round ups or should I leave them to the experts?

  7. Those animal head hooks are amazing!! As for toy crafts, for my sons birthday party last year, I spray painted some of his animals black and used them for weights for these big, round balloons I had. He loved them!

I love the toy soldiers in the frame but cannot find the diy link, can you give it to me? My youngest son loved toy soldiers and I have saved all of them for him. Thought he would love to have a piece of artwork reminding him of his childhood. Thank you so very much.

  14. Looks like they took down the article (it was definitely there on Friday). But if i recall it was pretty straightforward. - spraypaint toys and then glue them into a frame.

  15. No stylista here either, but I just don't think you need to be!
I loved this post.  I have a box of "stuff" I keep throwing things into for those rare days we all get creative together as a family.  My kids toys make it in there quite often.  I love, love, love some of these ideas.  I did something similar with an old truck for a baby shower for a baby "Ford".  It was great.  I am going to plant something permanent in the truck for my patio.

These are great ideas and show how to take simple items to a different level. Great for kids' spaces and thank you for sharing. I think you have proved that you know what you are talking about just by highlighting these unique items so I would definitely love to see more.
