One of the things on my spring to-do list has been finally outfitting my backyard with a little more style. With my table and garden in place, I was pretty much there - it just needed some personality.
So when Blogher asked if I'd be interested in checking out the new summer collection at Pier 1, I jumped at the chance. I'm already a fan of Pier 1 for party supplies, candles and tabletop items but I hadn't thought about them for outdoor. Off to the store I went.
The store is a riot of color now - really rich oranges, bright greens and the bright patterns that Pier 1 is famous for. It certainly put me in a festive mood browsing their pillow wall. I was seriously lusting after a hanging orange cushion swingasan chair until I remembered that I don't have a shady tree to hang it from - shattering my mid store fantasy session. Then I spotted the pagoda umbrella...
When I spotted this spice colored pagoda umbrella, I stopped dead in my tracks because it was just perfect for the patio and Japanese inspired garden we have.
Not having a lot of room back there, this was a great way to add something functional as well as pretty with a great splash of summer color. I stepped a few more feet and found these matching petal outdoor pillows that I think work great with the navy cushions I already had.
Another plus was that Pier 1 delivered it all straight to my doorstep (for a fee). Not wanting to lug all this stuff on the subway ride home was a big bonus for a city dweller like me.
Mr. Limestone set it all up and the umbrella was unfurled. It was the perfect size for my table for 6 providing great shade in my southern facing garden. Love! Of course we had to invite a few friends over for an impromptu barbeque to celebrate right away. Maybe next time we'll break out the fire pit for some urban backyard s'mores!

I'd get a yellow umbrella, a poly stone umbrella stand, and the boots planter. Our patio has full sun, so we need some shade for comfort in the summer. On the other hand, all of our planting beds are at least part shade, so the patio is my one chance to grow full-sun flowers!

I could really use new pillows outdoors and indoors. :) The Calliopi Maui cushions would make my day. The outdoor Swingasan Chair would be at home in our huge backyard tree. We could swing while daddy grilled. I am dying for the Ciudad counter table, Ciudad stools, and a fun, bright 7 ft. umbrella. I actually have been asking my hubby this week if we could make these purchases once I saw their sale :) Our deck is pretty small, so the counter height table and stools could be nestled nicely into a corner.

I really like the Catalina cove tumblers, to keep condensation from getting everywhere when I have my ice-cold beverage; all the outdoor pillows are adorable, because I'm a sucker for pillows & bright colors are very "me". I also really like the catalina cove serving plates/platters/trays/etc. The colors are great, and melamine is good for outdoors where the hubby might drop a plate on the patio

I would replace our grotty old patio cushions with these: Indoor/Outdoor Yellow Pavilion Chair Cushion. Come to think of it, our whole patio set is falling apart, so I'd grab four of these stacking chairs (Yellow Outdoor Stacking Armchair) for our smallish deck. I still love to entertain and make the most of my small space issues so I'm adding to my list a Ciudad Corner Chair, Ciudad Ottoman, and the Ocean Paper Lantern Set. I love the mirrored peacock pillows, and the peacock lanterns. They would match perfectly to what i already have. I also really love the our side candle lanterns. We spend a lot of time in our yard and these accents would make it so much more enjoyale.
