Somehow we've made it to 18 weeks. Firmly in the second trimester. I haven't experienced the great hair or flawless skin or the burst of energy I was promised, but I'm more than happy to have the nausea in the rear view mirror. It's hard to believe that we'll have a baby in just a few months but even harder to imagine there is a baby in me right now!
Hard to say when it happened but I definitely have a bump now. Not all that obvious or adorable - I just look a bit rounder than usual. No random strangers have made any rude comments (YET!) so I'm thankful for small blessings.
As much as I hate to take photos of myself, I'm trying to keep some notes and take some photos for posterity reasons. I hope the bebe gets a kick out of them when I'm old and decrepit.
Oh and how can I forgot to mention we'll find out the sex in just 2 weeks (assuming a cooperative baby)? I can hardly contain my excitement. Anyone want to place their bets now? I've gotten several girl guesses so far. I'm team pink all the way.
I had my children before the days of sonograms. When I was in labor, the doc told me, based on the heartbeat, etc., that I was having a six-pound girl. It was a nine-pound boy. You are lucky to have the advantage of finding out its sex.
ReplyDeleteDecember 29th is a GREAT day to be born! :0) Good luck & I hope the baby cooperates in 2 weeks so you can find out!!
ReplyDeleteTwo things:
ReplyDelete1. Don't tell anyone the sex before the baby shower. If it's a girl, all you will get is pink clothing, and none of the useful stuff you registered for. Sorry, I want to pick out the clothes myself, and I really do need that thingy that goes in the dishwasher to hold the bottle parts.
2. Have the doc give you the results in a sealed envelope. Take said envelope to the baker. Have the baker bake a cake that is either blue or pink, but have the outside frosted/decorated in a neutral color scheme. Serve at the shower, and everyone (including YOU!) gets to learn the news at the same time :)
Love the chalkboard! And congrats - you're due on my son's (and mom's) birthday! It's a great date!
ReplyDeleteYou look wonderful! I'm going to guess boy. But my track record for myself is terrible. :)
ReplyDeleteYou look really cute! And I'm thinking pink too, although I thought I was having a boy since I had two dreams with baby boys in them but turns out we're having a girl. Hey, I got a 50/50 chance to be right! Can't wait to see what plans you have for the nursery!
ReplyDeleteA few people have told me not to share the news but that isn't really my style. For one, I wouldn't be able to keep it a secret. But more importantly, Im not that worried about my shower gifts. If someone wants to spend their money on a cute outfit as opposed to something on my registery, that is fine with me. I'll be having a pretty small shower anyway so I'm sure Ill have to buy most of the boring necessities myself and that is fine with me. I know this is a personal topic but to me, a shower is about celebrating the baby, not the gifts. (Although those are always nice too)
ReplyDeleteI'm still on the fence if we should find out the sex at the ultrasound or take it away with us in an envelope and do something cute with just the two of us. I would like to make it special but Im not sure if I have the will power to wait. (I would love to throw a gender reveal party but almost all of my friends already have kids so I dont think I can bring myself to make it such a big deal when I know its only a big deal to us).
My sis got it in an envelope and her and brother in law went to dinner and opened it there together just the two of them and then did a gender reveal party with all of us, even though we all have kids, it was still fun to guess and then find out! She baked cupcakes and filled the center with blue cream filling, that's how we found it, it's worth doing with close friends and family!! You look fabulous, congrats and enjoy maternity!!
DeleteOh you look BEAUTIFUL! Either boy or girl, you will be a super cool mom with lots of style. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, how very exciting for you. I didn't want to know the sex of my two ahead of time and felt so good at guessing when I felt sure it was a girl the first time and it was. However, I was equally sure the second one was a girl, but it was a boy. Of course, I was thrilled they were both healthy and really didn't care whether they were male or female.
ReplyDeleteYou look really cute and I don't see anything lacking in your hair and/or skin, so maybe it is working for you,
xoxo
Im sort of hoping to be a little late (although I fully know I don't get a vote on it) because I always feel like Christmas week children dont get to have the same fun birthday celebrations as kids born at other times of the year. Hardly the end of the world but I know I love my October birthday so its hard to imagine being a Christmas baby.
ReplyDeleteBased on the heartrates we've seen so far, its in the girl range. But I know its not an accurate predictor.
ReplyDeleteYea! You look so cute in front of the chalkboard, and I can't even tell in that first pic. I hope the uncouth strangers steer clear and that you have an awesome rest of your pregnancy. Can't wait to see if it's a boy or a girl!
ReplyDeleteAww you look great ! Glad you are feeling better. Our babe's heartbeat was always in "girl range", but guess what, it's a boy ! I am due 12/7/12 so I am right there with you. I hate pictures too but you just inspired me to maybe take some of my own. Feel good and good luck !!
ReplyDeletecongrats! I'm voting team pink. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!!!!! Super excited to hear the sex and see the nursery come together and see what kind of adorable Halloween costume you come up with for the little one! :) xoxo, Melaine
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable! Congratulations and best wishes!
ReplyDeleteSo very happy for you!! I'm guessing girl also :) You look beautiful! Our 1st was a December baby, such a special time. Had carolers in the hospital (which may or may not be great if you're feeling exhausted LOL). Best wishes to you! xo
ReplyDeleteHuge congrats to you. I'm so happy for you and this very lucky baby. I'm going to go girl which I'm sure means boy now that I've said it. LOL.
ReplyDeleteSending you a delayed congratulations!! I've fallen off the blog-o-sphere, but I just happened to pop in to see what was new with one of my all time favorite bloggers and wow, you're expecting! I couldn't be happier for you! I'm expecting our second and am due exactly a month after you. Congrats again and you look great!!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried the Chinese gender chart? It was 100% for me (it's a girl!). The Chinese also say that if you are carrying like a basketball then it's a boy. And I'm going wide and round vs cute little bump...
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty excited for potential Halloween costumes for you this year! :-) You look great.
ReplyDeletecongrats!! ejoy!! we wish you a great time expacting!
ReplyDeleteMy sons bday is dec 19th but he doesn't seem to mind its close to Christmas. It actually was nice to sit at home and have a quiet, special Chiristmas. One of the best I have had with a sweet new baby. I never have found out the sex of my babies, but wether they came out and were a boy or a girl i love them all the same and wouldn't want it any different. The love you have for your children is unexplainable.. Im so happy you get to experience it!!
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful! Cutest bump ever, and I'm pulling for team pink as well. :-)
ReplyDeleteLucky for me I have until next year to come up with baby Halloween options :)
ReplyDeleteHey stranger! I was wondering how things are going for you. Congrats! You need to come back to blog land so we can all ooh and ahh at your interior design work.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteAbout the gender of a baby, honestly I couldn't care less until its born... as long as it is healthy & the birth is easy & safe. :D
Awww...my twins were born on Dec 26th! ( I should add way back in 1985)
ReplyDeleteLove a Capricorn baby, very cooperative, LOL
I have one of each. They both rock in different ways. Whatever team you be adding to, it will be grand :)
I am soooo happy for you and Mr. Limestone! I am Team Pink all the way! And how cute do you look right now. You are glowing!
ReplyDeletefirst timers are usually late, then again you will probably not WANT to be late once you're 9 months+ :D
ReplyDeleteGlad you are taking belly pics, they are so fun to look back on! I didn't take any bare pics of the belly and I wish I had, I totally forget what it looked like, and I had a cute one, too...ha!
ReplyDeleteBetter switch teams- you're having a boy!
ReplyDeleteI once read of a doctor who told his patients he was 100% accurate in predicting the baby's sex (pre-sonogram days). He would randomly tell the parents "boy" or "girl" and then write the opposite in the chart. If he was wrong, when the baby was born he'd show them the chart and say "I wasn't wrong, it's right here."
So exciting! I'm just a week ahead of you. I learned it was a boy and was totally convinced that the baby was a girl. I'm still in shock.
ReplyDeleteAwww, you look so adorable! On the day of your ultrasound, just about 20 minutes beforehand, drink a large glass of orange juice. The baby should be very active and they should be able to see the sex easily. I didn't know to do that with my first and she was asleep the whole time and we did not know until she was born what she was! With my second, I did the juice thing (and threw in a candy bar for good measure) and he was all over the place! It was kind of cool not knowing with my first, but I did enjoy knowing with my second...made it alot easier to decorate! Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteLauren
That is SO exciting! Despite what you say, you look bright and cheery! I'm guessing it'll be a boy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip. Ill do that.
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic. I'm going with boy. Enjoy those stretchy pants!
ReplyDeleteI hate taking pictures of myself too...boo :( BUT you look fabulous hun!
ReplyDeleteYou are glowing!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable! I’m team pink too :)
ReplyDeleteIt is so awesome following you on this journey - especially since I'm due December 30! I too haven't had the great hair, flawless skin or the increase in energy - I am waiting for it so badly! Good luck with everything!
ReplyDeletelooks like a girl to me - we look at the shape of the belly. So good you feel better because I was sick till the end and it was horrible.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, congrats!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures - you look adorable.
ReplyDeleteUmm...You look absolutely adorable. I love these pictures of you. And your hair is kind of knocking my socks off. Dec29th is such a fun due date. Love it. So exciting!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you! And I haven't been to your site in a while (have my own little 7 week old to tend to!) but I love the updated site!
ReplyDeleteWell, Girl, Ya look gorgeous. Glowing, even! No science to the hartbeat rate predicting. My guess...A boy. OR a girl. OR both!
ReplyDeleteI am up many nights a month helping catch babies. It is all amazing still after 20 some odd years of doing it! You can take a peek at a work blog of mine....maybe you will find a helpful tidbit or video...www.pppirchsc.wordpress.org.
Enjoythis amazing time!
I'm at 16 weeks and just got my bump. It came out of nowhere!
ReplyDeleteAs a Christmas birthday week individual myself (the 28th) let me put you at ease that it's actually a great time to have a birthday! As a child it felt special that I always got to have two birthdays, one on my actual birthday with my family and then later in January when I had my friend party after the holiday madness. As I got older I learned the benefits are really in my favor, 1) larger gifts to outfit my home with combo holiday gifts and 2) since I live across the country from my family it's great that I can visit for the week and be with them for both Christmas and my birthday. And pretty much everyone remembers your birthday since they know it's right after Christmas!
ReplyDeleteSince your due date is my oldest daughter's birthday, Dec. 29, my pick is a girl.
ReplyDeleteAh, no guesses here!!! Whatever it is will be loved and appreciated I know. My DIL is pregnant right now though only 10 weeks and not telling anyone for a couple more weeks. What do you mean you aren't glowing. I see the glow :)
ReplyDeleteForgot to add I have 2 girls (7 and 9) and a son who is 26 and waiting for his first child. Girls and boys are great so either way you win for sure!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing!! Cheers to moving past the first trimester... it's all fun and games from here, especially as that belly grows : ) Enjoy it! xo
ReplyDeleteOh, and I think boy. It's the year of the boys! : )
ReplyDeleteWell thats good to hear. I've only met people who sort of hate their Christmas week birthday or at the very least 'aren't birthday people'. I always find that sad. Its nice to hear there are the exceptions.
ReplyDeleteSo cute. I'm going with a girl. Don't ask me why. Glad to hear you're feeling better. Morning sickness sucks. The good hair and nails is on it's way!
ReplyDeleteI disagree Mrs. Limestone, I think you are glowing + beautiful and inordinately svelte for a pregnant woman! I am so excited for you both!
ReplyDeleteI am a 12/29 baby. I love it!!! Christmas, birthday, and new years! So many parties and fun days! My parents went all out on my birthday, so I did not feel cheated. I never do. I love that time of year. I feel like it is one big celebration!!! I absolutely love all holidays & parties. If you model that it's a great time for a birthday, your kid will grow up thinking the same thing. As mentioned before, it's great to be with all the family that week!
ReplyDeleteThat very cute bump of yours looks like a "girl" bump to me :) So I'm on team pink too!
ReplyDeleteAw, you look fantastic! I was much better about taking photos during my 1st pregnancy than this time - only 2 months left and no bump photos! If you want to have a little fun....the Chinese gender predictor was right for me both times. With my son, I had a VERY dark linea negra on my stomach, but nothing this time (a girl). I heard that the linea negra is more common with boys. Also, my hair and skin were AWESOME with my son, but have been TERRIBLE with this little girl. I had much more nausea with him than with her, more 1st trimester fatigue with him than with her...very swollen legs with him but none yet with her despite this heat during the last trimester... It's definitely fun to guess! Both times my initial "hunch" was right. :) You will have a blast designing the nursery either way!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I don't get a chance to read blogs much after having my own bebe last year so I'm behind on this (obviously). Your bump is cute! I'm going to guess girl because 18 weeks was when I started showing. :) And I love my baby girl so I want more lovely girls in this world. I'm looking forward to reading your updates!
ReplyDeleteHow in the world did I miss the original announcement! EEK! So happy and excited for you guys, and I can hardly wait to see your nursery unfold!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!! Such exciting news. Life is full of amazing adventures and blessings but I can tell you that NONE have compared to being a Mom. I hate to sound like that cliche but it is true. I have a 15 year old, an 11 year old and a 6 year old and they are the greatest blessings (along with my hubby). You heart will just BURST right open with LOVE!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you,
Kim
Girl, congrats!!! I had no idea!! My boy was due on 12-29 as well. :) He ended up coming three weeks early though, which I was very excited about at that point. (He was huge and perfectly fine.) So happy for you!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, you two!! That's so exciting. 12/29 was also Olivia's due date - though I had hoped she would miss Christmas by at least a week and she arrived 1/9! Just in time to avoid a Christmas/Birthday mash up. :) Would be the greatest present though!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I'm thinking you will be a Great Mom:))
