...
Added bonus, I got my blowing glitter snapshot to top off the weekend.
We had a great scan on Friday. It started out a little choppy as baby wasn't cooperating with the tech when she went to go look at her bits and pieces. We thought we might have to come back in a few weeks for another look but somehow she got what she needed and we were off with a sealed envelope.
I thought about taking it to the Brooklyn Bridge or somewhere iconic to open it but Friday was rainy so we played it by ear and opened it at dinner instead. My sister in law thought to get some pink and blue cocktails to celebrate the big reveal.
Even though I was totally rooting for a girl, I just happened to have a boy nursery all planned out in my head with nothing for a girl. So I need to think on it a bit before I start putting my ideas together. Anyone see any fab girl nurserys lately?
Congratulations!!! I am thrilled for you and can't wait to see your precious baby! ... and of course, the nursery, too;-)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! What beautiful pictures - thank you for sharing your happiness with us!
ReplyDeleteCONGRATULATIONS...!!! And for once I was right, a girl. Ok, so I picked girl because my oldest daughter's birthday is Dec. 29.......that's not really cheating, is it? Anyway I'm thrilled for you both.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! How exciting for you and your husband. Your post is so cute - Love the glowing glitter pink pixy dust.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to You & your loved One on having a Girl.
ReplyDeleteaww! yay! Little girls are so much fun! :) love your pictures! what a great idea with the glitter and the picture turned out so pretty!
ReplyDeleteAwesome picture! Congrats to you! Please keep us in the loop on all of the nursery planning, not just your final picks :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! The blowing glitter picture is super cute!! And like yourself when we found out we were having a girl the nursery in my head was all planned out for a boy, but I'm sure you'll come up with something fabulous and perfect for your little girl!! Congrats again and enjoy these next months, they go by fast!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Girls are the best. I may be a bit biased though since I have a girl and one on the way;)
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! And that glitter picture is awesome. You're glowing! :)
ReplyDeleteLove baby girls! Course I have two so am biased :) Very fun glitter shot. Congrats! It's been all over blogland lately but have you seen the white nursery with gorgeous brass pendant at Me Oh My? That's me fave nursery I've seen lately.
ReplyDeleteOh I hadn't seen that before - definitely gorgeous. I love all white rooms but Im not disciplined enough to live like that :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Caitlin. Its funny to say this because its my blog but I do feel a little guilty going overboard with baby related posts. In one way I can't help it because I blog about my life and thats whats going on in my life right now but Im trying not to bore everyone out of the minds. Good to know some readers are happy to hear about the process and not just the end result.
ReplyDeleteAww! Congratulations!! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your glitter shot! Very cute idea!
And I'm excited to see the nursery. Even though you've planned the nursery for a boy, I'm sure it's going to look amazing!
Congrats!! I was in the same boat as you -- I really wanted a girl but had the name and nursery all planned out for a boy. So when we found out it was a girl it was like "what now?!" I'm due in 3 weeks and am so excited about how her nursery is turning out (we decided to go with gray and pink). I'm hoping to post a reveal within the next week -- hope you'll stop by! And please do keep us updated with all nursery developments, I don't think anyone would consider that boring or "baby overload." I'm just the opposite -- those posts are most exciting to me (even when I wasn't pregnant)!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you and your family!!! Can't wait to see the whole process. I love nurseries. :)
ReplyDeleteYAYAYAYAY! Congrats you two! Girls are the best--I was secretly rooting for a baby girl too, ha. You look beautiful in the glitter photo, such an amazing shot!

ReplyDeleteCONGRATS!! I love the glitter shot, that is so cool!! I cant wait to see what you have planned for her room now, its going to be amazing for sure!
ReplyDeleteThat's an insanely PERFECT photo!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd PS...congrats!!! Yay for little girls!!!
Congrats! Great pics.
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS!!! I was positive I was having a boy and with a strong desire to nest, we started the nursery before finding out the sex. I stayed up all night perfecting mood boards and browsing http://www.zacandzoe.com/. Never a fan of pastels, we used bold colors so when we discovered we were having a girl, it was easy to add feminine accents *the bird motif is subtle in her nursery* Let me just say, Girls are awesome. We feel like we have the best of both worlds because Olivia goes to ballet, plays soccer and rocks out on her ukulele. So here's Liv's nursery *which took 5 months to complete and is in a tiny 10 x 10 room shared with her Dad's office*

ReplyDeleteI was the opposite, I knew I wanted to do a very similar nursery as this one, but it turns out I'm having a boy. If it's not too weird, I'd love to hear what you were thinking for a boy nursery. I'm really struggling.
Congratulations!! Can't wait to see what you come up with for the nursery!
ReplyDeleteAHH! Congratulations! How exciting!

ReplyDeleteNow if I might ask what may seem a ridiculous question - can you share camera settings and lens info on how you achieved the glitter shot?? Would like to do something similar of my granddaughter for a Christmas photo but am clueless how to do it.
Many thanks for any help you can give.
Ciao,
Dee
Congratulations!!! I'm a new reader of your blog and was pointed to your blog by my mother, as I'm also due right around you, Christmas Day, with my first, a little girl of my own... Can't wait to see what you come up with for you little one, I'm a firm believer that a girl will be way more fun to plan for.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! A baby girl is so precious. My little girl is 10 and she has been a beautiful blessing. This is a very beautiful photo of you and will be treasured forever!
ReplyDeleteYay! I think you should chat with the Zerbey's about their little girl nursery. It's fun and feminine but not too girlie. www.chezerbey.com
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS on this wonderful blessing!!! Much love from Vancouver BC!
ReplyDeleteHi Dee. Since I wasn't behind the camera (hubs was at the controls), I had my camera set to P mode since that was easiest for him and set up on a tripod. I used my zoom lens and had it fully zoomed (which helps create the blurred background but I was far enough away from what you see here that it would have been blurred regardless). We were outside so we used natural light and no additional flash. I waited til the sun was setting so the light would hit at the side rather than from above. Focus was at the center of the frame. Depending upon your lighting situation you might want to overexpose a bit to get more of a bright look. You could do this with virtually any camera although using an SLR will be easier since you dont have to account for shutter lag. The trick is taking lots of images so you get ones with eyes open and in focus. I took at least 50 to get just a few good ones. As it turns out, I'm not very masterful at blowing glitter so my husband blew some back at me to create more sparkle to fill the frame. Hope that helps!
ReplyDeleteYayy! Congratulations! This is such exciting news :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! This blog has lots of pictures of nurseries! Check it out if you like http://www.ontobaby.com/
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! What great news! Your glittered picture is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYEA!!! Congratulations, and you look fabulous. I hope you're feeling well and that it's smooth sailing. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great picture! Congrats! Girls are SO MUCH FUN!
ReplyDeleteAw, you look so beautiful! That glitter shot is awesome - I haven't seen that done before to announce the sex of the baby! Congrats to you and hubby!
ReplyDeleteAnd totally off topic, but what nail color is that?! It's the perfect pinky nude, and I must know! :)
Thanks Kim. I'm sorry but I can't remember the name of the nail color. I know it was one of the more popular pink Essie shades but for the life of me, can't remember the name.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Pink ones are FABULOUS!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your baby girl! I LOVE the glitter photo! It's perfect! Question... what font did you use to type "It's a girl" under the photo? I love it!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!!!!!!!!! My little man has another girlfriend on the way ; ) And how amazing is that glitter picture of you? Beautiful! You are glowing, friend! xoxo
ReplyDeleteAnd yes I've got a few fun girl nurseries pinned on my Pinterest board... and just saw an incredible design Ashley over at The Handmade Home did (I pinned it). Very rustic chic, so cute!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You look gorgeous and you are positively glowing (& sparkling)! Anyway, I love this blog.http://laybabylay.com/silver/page/2/ I don't have a baby on the way, but she does such fun things using vintage finds, quirky pieces and fun combinations. I love to scroll through her mood boards when I'm looking to be inspired.
ReplyDeletePlease, please, please reconsider. This is the biggest project you'll ever undertake in your life and it's going feel awful to be kept from it!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! My baby girl is going to be 1 on Sept 2nd. Don't feel like we don't want to read posts about babies. I think it's safe to say that the majority of your visitors have children and that is definitely something that binds us together. I want to know as much as you want to share. Having said that- I have pinterested some ideas for the future.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on y'alls sweet baby girl! AND what a fun photo! (Please tell me you wrapped your camera in something before shooting that... I cannot even imagine cleaning that glitter off your lens!)
ReplyDeleteNo I didn't cover the camera. Thankfully the glitter didn't stick to the camera at all. It was all over me of course ;)
ReplyDeleteYay! Congratulations!! I'm sure whatever you create for the nursery will be classy, timeless, and beautiful-- exactly the reason I follow your blog to begin with. :-)
