As if you didn't already know renovations don't happen at the snap of anyones finger, our shore kitchen is especially good at illustrating that point. But its all good because we haven't been in any rush - as long as its all done by spring, I'll be happy.
That said, it's shaping up nicely.
All done:
Electrical repaired
Partial wall removed
Cabinets Installed Good quality and look fine, not amazing but better than I expected for stock cabinetry
Floors tiled Cheap and they look great
Marble counters installed I just lurrrve them
Walls painted I think the Jade Frost color looks great but the minty shades are haunting me
Window and cut out molding complete
Fabulous light fixture rehung
Appliances in hate the look of the micro and oven but I'm too cheap to spring for the nicer looking options
Tolix chairs purchased yes, I went with the knockoffs
Left to do:
Hang
Open Shelves
Finish installing super cool
Delta touch faucet
Install tiles on right wall
Install hardware
Buy table
(I'm almost sure I'm going with this table because of the price but open to suggestion)
Buy and hang art - I still can't decide between
these two options!
Decide on window treatments - I could
rehang these but I might want to go with somthing else
Despite the to do list still being longer than I would like, it feels like a real kitchen now so I'm very happy. The living room was also painted and the floors need to be redone (all due to the Sandy damage) so I'm going to have to tackle that room next. I sense a few winter projects coming up!
I adore the whole thing. The counters really give it a light and lovely feel!

Wow... this space looks awesome, and you are not even done. I love the materials and cannot wait to see when it is 100% complete!

Where did you end up getting the Tolix knockoffs from?
ReplyDeleteI ended up getting them from Joss & Main because the price was right and I liked the white option. The manufacter is Zuo.
DeleteLoving it! Great palette, beautiful countertop and what a pretty light fixture. As for a dining table, have you checked out West Elm? I always find something there that I like. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteLove West Elm but they dont have a white round table. Boo.
DeleteThe shore condo is looking good. Do you use during the winter months at all?
ReplyDeleteYes, we use it quite a bit in the winter (on the years when its not a construction zone of course). I actually prefer going there in the spring and fall when the crowds are gone bu the weather is still nice.
Deletelookin' good! did you have any Sandy damage? i could've swore you mentioned something about that. so nice to have a getaway from the city!
ReplyDeleteYes, we got some. Nothing compared to the destruction some people faced though so we were fortunate. Thats why we are renovating the kitchen - figured we would use the downtime of the more boring construction to get the kitchen redone.
DeleteDont buy the Ikea table. It's total junk. Really wobbly especially if you have a baby. I tossed mine.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback. I'm reading online and it seems about half the people have a wobbly one and half dont. I wonder if its something that can be fixed avoided or just a general defect.
DeleteI second the Ikea comment. I don't have it, but saw it in store and it looked cheap and was scuffed all over.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful and classy , look at that beautiful marble , worth the wait.
ReplyDeleteLove the fridge, what is it? Countertops look beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Let me check the model number info for you. Don't want to give you the wrong answer.
DeleteBeautiful!! Love your blog. Following it!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend!

This is looking Fabulous! The countertops look great - so worth all your searching I hope! We have the same touch faucet and LOVE it (we reno'd our kitchen ourselves a couple months ago: http://www.candiedfabrics.com/2013/08/05/kitchen-reno-allllllmost-done/) A couple of days after we installed the faucet it started to act up - turning on and off by itself. Hubby called Delta, and after taking a few pictures under the sink to show how it was installed, they ended up sending us a new part to replace the touch function, and it's been working like a charm every since! (3 months and counting)
ReplyDeleteNow that it's fixed I never physically turn it off, except when shining it...but you should make a note to always physically turn the unit off when you're leaving to go back to Brooklyn! :-)
Thanks. We haven't seen it operate yet but hopefully next time. Im sure the novelty will wear off after a while but it seems like a really fun feature. Especially since we are washing our hands all the time thanks to baby.
DeleteI love what you’ve done so far. The sink is gorgeous. I’m curious what kind of tiles you’ll use on the wall. Have you decided yet? Also, I recommend you to use adhesive sheets to install them. I used Bondera TileMatSet and i have to say that is so much easier to use than the usual mastic.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I’m sure your kitchen will be great at the end. I’m looking forward to your next kitchen updates.
