'Never Forget' goes without saying. Who could ever forget the shock, the smell, the stillness in the air, the ache in our hearts? No one could forget the fear and courage that followed, the connection everyone who lived through it shared. No one could deny how our lives and outlook changed irrevocably since. No one could have lived through that day and forgotten.
I snapped this photo of the the new Freedom Tower taken through raindrops a few months back. It sums up exactly how I feel about today.
It all comes flooding back on the anniversary...we weren't there but our hearts were there and broken along side yours.I am so glad I was able to see the memorial this summer....
ReplyDeletePlease say a collective prayer for all of us as your eyes glance over the river tonight...
ReplyDeleteI love this picture. Each 9/11 I remember so much of the shock, fear and feelings I had that day, and I was across the country in Phoenix. Today my heart is full of thoughts and prayers for all of the families who lost loved ones and for those who were a part of this tragic day.
ReplyDeleteMy parents died a couple years before 9-11, and I was thinking how glad I was they didn't have to witness this sad, unbelievable day. Let's pray it never happens again!
ReplyDeleteThe sadness starts creeping up on me around the 8th, for some reason. I will never get over the horror of it all.
ReplyDeleteI lived in southern CA at the time; if I had lived in NYC, I do not know if I could have stood it. God bless all of you who were there and all who lost loved ones.
It all comes flooding back to me as well, like Chris said. I live near the Twin Cities, MN, so nowhere close. Oh how I wanted to be able to go out there and do something, help in some way, but couldn't due to work and kids. I still tear up when I see photos and my heart breaks all over for those we lost and their families. I have never been to NY, but would love to go one day.
ReplyDeletebeautiful. thank you for that moment.
