This is our first holiday as a family of four and I got a little excited with coordinated outfit shopping. I so rarely find outfits I really love on everyone, including me, that I had just had to share. (Don't worry, it happens so rarely this will never become a fashion blog.) Now if only I can get one decent photo of all us in these pieces, my life will be complete.
Dad: Coat | Sweater
Mom: Dress | Scarf | Coat | Boots
Aggie: Dress | Coat | Hat | Boots
Oscar: Sweater | Shirt | Pants | Hat
I can't really speak about the items everyone else is wearing but the dress and boots I'll be sporting are so comfortable and forgiving to *ahem* my very less than perfect form. I might get this dress in every color!
I found the whole coordinating 4 people to be oddly overwhelming. I know so many of you have much bigger families - how do you do manage looking cute on special occasions? And just how bad of a faux pas would it be if we wear these outfits for every single holiday occasion for the next 6 weeks?
I hope you take a picture of all of you!
ReplyDeleteI'm certainly going to try but you know how these things go - its tough to get a decent photo of everyone!
DeleteI 100% agree - I like to have us all look put together (nerd alert!) and it's damn near impossible! Even with 2 boys. In my next life, I'll have a kids clothing company that continues the same outfits past 24 months into the toddler sizes. Why doesn't any do that? Especially for holiday pajamas???
ReplyDeleteBTW - either I made this up or I read it somewhere but I try to pick three colors and make sure everyone is wearing at least 2 of them so we all look coordinated. Usually it works!
I am having the hardest time finding matching pajamas for all of us! Which is crazy b/c its not like I have that many kids or weird sizes but Ive yet to find baby, kid, woman and man in the right sizes in a pattern I like!
DeleteGreat tip about the 3 colors - I'll have to keep that in mind next time. I usually just find one outfit I like (in this case it started with Oscar's) and then coordinate everyone with that one in mind. I don't like to match too exactly (except when christmas pajamas are concerned)
Saw this and thought of you. http://www.northcarolinacharm.com/2016/11/wish-list-wednesday.html
Deletetry Hatley for pyjamas
ReplyDeleteThanks Anna. I'll try that. I have a Hatley rain coat for Aggie and i love it.
DeleteI usually go with 2 or 3 colors as well. I usually look for the color trend of the year or look at what Xmas card we would get. I mostly shop Zara and Gap for my two girls, letting them wear the pattern/trend. My husband and I usually wear solid, mostly muted, colors. I may accessories with coordinating color/trend to match the girls.
ReplyDeleteHow high does the dress come up on the sides? Would wear it with tights, but still concerned it might be too short?
ReplyDeleteI'm 5'8" and I have a long torso - it comes up about as high as you see on the model...so its more of a long tunic/short dress for me. I'll pair with tights or leggings to keep it decent but I like my clothes to cover. My friend who recommended it to me is a bit shorter and it serves as a proper dress for her.
DeleteThank you so much for the information. I think I'll try it!
DeleteI bought the dress and it is as you said, pretty forgiving and its a steal! I may buy more colors! May I ask what tights or leggings you pair it with?
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it! I'm 5'8" and have a long torso - which means even normal length dresses end up looking more like a tunic on me. So I have to wear opaque tights or leggings with it. Here the tights I love: http://bit.ly/2gmsCkR They are expensive but I buy two pairs and they take me through the entire winter despite lots of washes and not being too careful with them. So for me, they are worth it so I don't have to buy lots of pairs. Plus they suck you in really well and don't roll down. For leggings, I just found these and LOVE them - get a size larger than you normally wear but they are cheap and great: http://www.target.com/p/women-s-high-waisted-legging-mossimo-supply-co-juniors/-/A-16543420
DeleteAnother option is these leggings which are thicker and a bit more expensive: http://bit.ly/2gmp4Pr
Hope that helps!
